Limited third-party advertisements will continue to be displayed.
Which is it ebay. Are you going to remove ads or display ads? It can't be both. What on earth does 'limited' mean?
Only 20 instead of 21, 10 instead of 20?
Another ambiguous ebay announcement that says one thing immediately followed by a statement that says something completely different.
And now onto the weather. It's a beautiful, bright sunny day with a limited amount of clouds and rain.

I'm thinking that the promoted listings won't go over as big as dreamt and this is a little cover for when they don't pan out. Paying to list on ebay with little to no traffic is just not financially smart for any seller.
I agree, they have stated that no 3rd party ads will be allowed, but then say they are. Which is it?

I tried promoted listings (2% to 5%) on some multiples and I have to admit I made some sales. It wasn't bad at all.
Would I have made a sale without it? Who knows, but for the few bucks it cost I was glad to get the sales.

So fo my OOAK items, I will still get the junk 3rd party ads? Because there are no new mulitple items like my preowned OOAK items? This needs to be addressed, not just typed a response to, but answered. Are they allowing 3rd party ads OR NOT?

Yep, typical weasel wording. As I stated in another thread, I full expect to still see ads from a certain china replacement site on all my china and dinnerware listings. There will be no way that eBay will have to disclose who is ACTUALLY paying to play.

Allow me to clarify - we are removing all 3rd party Product Listing Ads (text ads with product images). But 3rd party text based ads (with no product images) and banner ads will continue to exist. We are taking steps to reduce competition that sellers have raised concerns with in the past. I hope that helps. We thank you for your feedback. We will be making updates to our FAQs to address this more specifically. thank you!

To do that, we’re removing third-party product listing ads from eBay View Item and Search Result pages.
Nowhere does that state that only ads that display images are being removed from our listings. Nowhere does that state that only text ads and banners get to stay. There is no mention of an image anywhere, it states that you are removing third-party product listing ads from our listing, which I presume is the view item when someone clicks on our listing? And from all places on the search results page?
Typical ebay speak. You left out some very important words and made everyone think you had done something good. We all know better though. Very sad that ebay cannot say what it means and be honest with their users. No one here jumped for joy, they just kept looking and then realized that they were right. Nothing good without a catch.

banana-posts,
Unbelievable! You get the same weather reports I do - who's your weather reporter?
I really liked your analogy, but in this case it doesn't apply to what we are doing with product display ads on our site. Starting May1, it will be a sunny day - end of story. The reason for the asterisk is there are some other types of text based ads that remain for now - but all product display ads will be removed.
Thanks for selling on eBay

I'm sorry, but could you go just one step further? So NO product display ads, regardless of whether there is an image or not? That is not what your policy says, or what was said above.

I know, right. Really cuts into my drone flying time. Thanks for the clarification.

Now I'm confused.
What other types of text based ads?
Do these other rext based types sell products? If no, then what do they sell? Or???

Can you show us a specific example of one of these "text based" ads? Some people do better with visuals. 😉

I can't go one step furhter today - I wish I could. We are taking a big step towards what you are asking for starting May 1st. Nothing further to announce today. But stay tuned.
Thanks for selling on eBay!
