Just curious.

15% increase in net eBay fees for music instruments is just plain criminal
You may want to revisit the Seller Update. There wasn't any category that got a 15% increase in fees. You forgot the decimal point. It is a 0.15% increase. It went from 7% to 7.15%

My yearly renewal isn't until October, and I doubt I will cancel my store subscripion. I am a low volume seller, so going from 20% to 10% discount on FVF is not a biggie. What is more valuable to me is the commercial plus discount I get on USPS shipping.
I just looked at my Seller Dashboard. Late shipment rate is at 3.00% (6 of 200 transactions) and my tracking uploaded on time and validated is 94.29% (33 of 35 transactions). I guess I'll just have to sell more to get those percentages where they need to be to keep my TRS+ .

Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!
I can't believe they had the gall to send an offer to open a store on a YEARLY basis:
"When you switch to a yearly eBay Store subscription, you'll save up to 20% every month." You will enjoy the same great features at a lower rate--only $19.95 per month!"
Hey, you have to give them credit. They had good comedic timing!

I also got an offer to join the ebay bucks program for free.
Lets see....... Let me think ......... Um, NO.

I am seriously considering it. My renewal comes in June, so will make a decision by May. I would still continue to sell on eBay, but it seems the incentive to have a store has been minimized.

@dhuberinc wrote:I closed my store last October and to be honest it didn't hurt a bit. I just had to adjust to listing only valuable things for the 50 freebie monthly you get and then being ready to take advantage of times when eBay gives away additional free listings. I grew to have the opinion that eBays "store" concept was a JOKE. I got tired of seeing MY competition splayed across the bottom of all MY listings. It's just WRONG
Was just telling someone today that when I drop the store and go back to the 50 free listings, paying for an additional 50 listings will only cost $15. That's $10 less than I'm spending now with the month-to-month store subscription.
You said in an earlier post you'd be losing approx $8/month in FVF savings, meaning you have been getting a savings of $16/month up until now. So you are going to drop your store and pay $15 for 50 listings, when you'd basically be getting a store for $17?

Without going into a ton of details, let's just say after doing a lot of analysis, it just doesn't make sense FOR ME to keep the store. Period.

For musical instruments, the fee was 7 %
With a 20 % discount, the net fee was 5.6 % for a power seller
The new fee is 7.15%, and the discount is only 10 %
New net fee is 6.44%
0.84% on top of 5.6% is a FIFTEEN PERCENT INCREASE
Not sure what planet eBay mgmt is on, but I hope they increase the cost of the air they breathe by the same.....oops, can`t pay, too bad!!!

I printed an ebay label and shipped the Tues after President's Day. I got dinged for it. They get it wrong too and there is NO margin with 95%.

Not necessarily. Make sure you are reading your dashboard correctly. It is NOT in real time. So for example if you sold a couple of things a couple days ago, your percentages may not have updated with tracking verifications yet. That can take a few days. So whenever you have a few sales the preceeding days, it may appear you have a low scanned tracking number. This happens all the time. That is the biggest reason why Ebay doesn't do eval's until the 20th of the following month being eval'd. It is to allow the numbers to come in and be properly represented. So you may not have as much of a problem as you currently think you do.
Look at the details of the number. You should be able to tell if it is something you shipped a couple weeks ago causing the low number or it is because you had a few sales yesterday that have not yet updated.

I'm not sure why some are concerned about their store status because of the Seller's Update. The Update didn't change a store's benefits to my knowledge. The FVF's went up a fraction, but they are still lower than if you did not have a store.
So that I may better understand for myself, why is it a concern of whether to have a store or not to have a store because of the Seller's Update? Why is it a concern or question?

The FVF discount went from 20% down to 10% for my store - so the next effect for me is a 15% increase.
@Anonymous
Your "store" has nothing to do with it. It is the TRS Plus discount that was reduced from 20 to 10%. You don't have to have a store to get this discount, but you do have to be TRS Plus to get the discount.
Are you a TRS Plus seller?

No, no reason to. A couple of sales pays for the store, mine is half paid for already today. I already have two selling accounts (one store, one non-store), I really don't want to juggle back and forth between more. I like being able to keep the shelves full, so to speak, without having to pay thirty cents a listing, or to sit on things until a promo comes out. I also like having the markdown manager and the ability to do promos. I keep a buy 3 get free shipping running on my cookbooks all the time, that helps sales.
I'm not getting my knickers in a twist just because Ebay is only giving a 10% discount as a gift instead of 20%, since I don't factor that in to anything to begin with. I can't cry over the loss of "found" money, since I don't expect to find it to begin with.

The numbers I posted are my real world situation - the net effect of these latest anti-seller changes from eBay = 15% increase in my overall eBay FVF fees after all is said and done - goes from 5.6% to 6.44% - a 15% increase.
I'm a Canadian seller listing on eBay.com - you so ye, in short, equivalent to TRS - thus my store discount has EVERYTHING to do with it - if the reduction to 10% from 20%, plus moving some sales to Reverb makes the store not worthwhile, I will simply close it.....
