Re: 2017 Spring Seller Update Reminder

Im so happy I have started the the proccess of moving over to the big A.

My goal is one day to stop selling completly on this site, with every big company offering something on the lines of allowing you to sell on there websites.  Ebay is becoming full of cheep over the pond trash and a big money grab.

Re: 2017 Spring Seller Update Reminder

Just wondering why I never received notification of the Spring Seller Update on my Seller Id. I went all the back to the 2016 Fall Sellers Update in my email and and far back as I could in ebay messages. There is nothing about the Spring Sellers Update. I have a store, I am an active seller. It sure would have been nice to know about the changes BEFORE they took effect. Why was I left out?

ebay obviously doesn't want small sellers anymore - even though we built their business!

There are some that always say something like this every time Ebay releases some changes.  Sometimes the changes to hit small sellers harder than others and sometimes they don't.  This is one of those times where the larger the seller the harder the financial impact is, due to the reduction in the TRS+ discount.  For small sellers it may mean a loss of $20 a month, but the larger the seller the bigger that loss is.  For every $1,000 in sales the discount loss will be around $9.  That will of course vary depending on the category you sell in and if you have a store.  But you get the idea.

It seems that some sellers think they are going to be losing more money than they really are.  You can verify the numbers by looking at your Ebay invoices.  Your credit for TRS+ is easily seen on the invoices.

Re: 2017 Spring Seller Update Reminder

I wrote my reply directly to eBay and no one from eBay has responded, I saw responses to other posts, why did you skip me?

Thanks,

Re: 2017 Spring Seller Update Reminder

I agree. There is little incentive anymmore to selling on Ebay.

Costs are getting prohibitive. Buyers can bid on items then not pay and sellers have no ability to leave feedback to warn other sellers...I don't know. This place was fun 12 years ago.

The grass isn't always greener on the other side.  While some other sites are cheaper and others more expensive, you need to remember to compare traffic and sell through rates.

As for FB for buyers.  You will be hard pressed to find any selling site that allows you to leave FB on a customer.  That just isn't acceptable anymore on any site that I'm aware of.

We have to move forward.  Yes this site was extremely different 12 years ago.  There are many things I liked about this site 12 years ago as well and I miss some of those things, but if we don't move forward we can't keep up with the rest of the world.  It isn't standing still for us, the world is in constant motion.

Don't get me wrong, there are many of Ebay's rules that I firmly disagree with, but to stand still in an industry that is in constant movement would be a huge mistake.  We as sellers need to move forward to and readjust our line of vision.

Re: 2017 Spring Seller Update Reminder

I like your ideas and I also have a dream.

One day, hopefully before I die, a Jeff Bezos or Nick Swinmurn (Zappos founder) type will come up with a site that slowly but clearly puts ebay in a death knell.   I'd be honored to ring the bell.

Ebay's stock split in 1999, 2000, 2003, & 2005 but there have been none since.  And they're still trying to increase their stock value since they spun off PayPal in 2015.  There are way too many managers that seem to be lost in whatever sector they manage and are oblivious to every other part of this mammoth mess.   They're apparently trying every idea that came out in a drunken brainstorming session to raise profits and stock price.  A company that doesn't have to store, handle or ship inventory but makes money on other people doing so, should have profits way beyond a company like  Apple or Amazon

Two actions that I've seen that undermine any credibility  or integrity ebay may have once had are

Number One - Charging fees on shipping costs to those sellers charging the customer only the postage paid with a small handling fee. (You addressed that)

Number Two -  No longer caring about items that are misrepresented.  They just want the selling fees and ignore everything else.  I have reported  several vendors for blatant dishonest descriptions or categories and have followed up for as long as three months.  EVERY time the vendor was still doing what I'd reported them for.

Ebay has gotten way too big for its proverbial britches.

Re: 2017 Spring Seller Update Reminder

I am a small seller in comparison to others. I find the shipping costs don't allow me to make money. eBay suggests all the time to offer free shipping. I have tried it both ways. I think this suggestion is excellent.

Re: 2017 Spring Seller Update Reminder

I am fairly new to it - perhaps less than a year. I think that if I pay the shipping, I should not be charged to do so. That is so over the top. It makes eBay sound a little cheesy...

On a survey, I said clarification is needed. I wonder if I am wasting my time after reading a few of these posts.
