saved searches: stopping showing crap from other categories!

I have saved over 100 searches.  Many of them are for a specific category.  The last few days I keep seeing the blue dot indicating new items.  But when I click, I see, "0 results in the ... category, so we searched all categories".

WTAF?  If I wanted to search all categories, I would have set up the search that way.  Stop showing me all this irrelevant crap!

This used to happen occasionally, but now it is happening constantly.  Stop it.

Never have only seen this happen occasionally, seem pretty constant for a long time, showing unrelated "stuff". 

All it take is a trigger word in the title to pull up a bunch of stuff not related. I am with you, if I set my search for X I want to see X, I am not going to buy Y.

Same issue.  Just started happening yesterday.

Me too. Very frustrating.  If eBay is hoping something from the other categories will “catch my eye,” they are wrong. It simply ticks me off. 

I have some very specific searches in which *normally* items show up only a few times a year. Since about a week ago, I’ll get the exciting blue door only to find “0 items in this category” (or whatever) and then a list of results matching a keyword or two. 

My searches are specific for a reason; fix it eBay!

Call Ebay every day and complain about it.  I've called 3 times and they are acting like it's a new issue.  If everyone complains they will change it back as tying up the phones prevents them from working on other issues.

Did a search for North America maps and it shows EVERY state, city and country in North America and not just North America. I also have about 36 saved Searches that ebay has now made completely irrelevant.  one search is Texas map and it shows baseball cards of people who played in Texas. Search is absolutely horrible. Use to buy around 15,000 -20,000 a year on ebay and now Im at around 1000$.

Whats going on with searches. If you search "North America map" you get every country, city and state within North America. Why?
