Maple and co silver

I don't know too much about this company, but I can tell you that it was started in London by a man named John Maple in 1841.  Now, from what I remember, his company started stamping an LTD. mark after the Maple & Co. mark after the year 1891.  This means that your piece pre-dates the 1891 mark.  I think the "S" stamp at the end means that it is "Sheffield Silver."  I know this probably doesn't help you much, but it may be a start.  Good Luck!!!!
