File Exchange

I am trying to upload to file exchange and it is no longer working. It has been working fine for many months and I have listed 30,000+ items via file exchange.

Now when I try to upload 290 items, it says that it is trying to process 15045 listings (incorrect) and then aborting the job.  (Ref 1107110200)

In spite of the fact that I haven't uploaded a single item, it is then saying that I have exceeded my daily limit. and I am unable to attempt any more uploads.

I have an anchor store in which I am trying to relist all my items, which means I have none of my 9,000 clothing items listed, and the error has been occurring for 2 consecutive days, so I have an anchor store with only 2 listings instead of 9002 listings.

Please advise - this is urgent as every day costs approx $20 in subscription fees with nothing to sell to pay for that subscription.

Update on this given I've heard nothing back from eBay since the 23rd April (in spite of contacting AU support, US support & posted here) and our store has ground to a halt with zero listings as a result.

The problem seems to be that the number of rows in my upload file is be multiplied out by a factor of 51 when attempting an import when giving the number of actions requested. e.g. I try and upload 3 items, eBay tells me I've request 153 (3 x 51) actions. Yesterday I tried to upload 10 items and was told that I requested 510 (10 x 51) actions. Both uploads aborted in spite of receiving an email saying they were successful. The error message contains no useful information at all.

What would help me in my blind (no access to eBay's back-end) trouble shooting would be to know it ANYONE has been able to upload ANY listings in a .CSV file via the file exchange since 24/04/20 ?

I fail to see how this can only be impacting our store so would love to hear from just one person that is currently able to upload listings via the file exchange?

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help here!!!

Since you are asking on the US board instead of the AU board, is there any possibility the upload was attempted on the wrong site? Of course that does not explain the outragious numbers.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

I am asking on the US Board because when trying to get help in Australia I was told that eBay Australia do not support the file exchange.  I have been uploading from within our account on ebay.com.au as per usual. I'd be highly surprised if this is not some sort of glitch that is preventing me from uploading. For 3 days in a row I've been unable to upload a single item. I usually upload several 1000 a month. Crippling to our business basically.

Hello @daisychainclothingkids ,

Thank you for your post. I am sorry to hear that your experiencing such trouble.

When you upload a file of 291 rows and the File Exchange Center states a different number, right away that tells me that you have something called "Hard Returns" in your file. Another name for hard returns is "manual line breaks".  File Exchange cannot read these well and so they end up taking their own line/row for each line break in your file.

If you are using Microsoft Excel, they make it really easy to remove manual line breaks. By clicking Ctrl + H to open the find and replace menu, then in the "find what" box type Ctrl + J, this is the hot key for hard returns. In the "replace with" box leave it blank because we want to replace the hard return with nothing, so then push the button "Replace All". You should get a window that pops up and tell you how many line breaks were removed. Save your file and upload again with a different name.

I know that most members in Europe don't use Microsoft computers so if you don't have Excel, try searching the web for another way of removing line returns. If the line break exists in your item description HTML, you can use File Exchange Utility Tool that remove hard returns for you, this is located in the File Exchange Advanced instructions.

Thank you for your post. I hope this helps. Wish you well and safe!

@mightycommerce

Your first upload to File Exchange should be a single record, not a variation. Once you get the basic errors out of the way and have a feel for what is required, then you can try a variation listing. I recommend that you start a new thread, or return to your original thread to keep your issues in one place. Also state which eBay site will receive your uploads.
