Roxie,
We lived the same place when I was born. Mom went to the hospital in Glendale for my sister. We lived in a old home south of Tolleson. My Grandparents left Misouri in late 1800's and finally settled in Tolleson in 1910 two years before Arizona became a State! Arizona & Utah Has been most of my family's home for over 100 years.
I remember when Dell Webb started Sun City It was a joke all over America. (A town for Old people.) Well it was not to many years before they were laughing out of the other side of their mouths.

I am a big believer in using gratitude to create positive changes. Being constantly aware of my many blessings, and feeling grateful for them, has had a huge impact on the quality of my life. When I am filled with appreciation, it quite literally changes the dynamic of my reality.
I find it truly amazing how one, simple, positive action can change so much in a person’s life. In fact, recognizing the power of gratitude is one of the things that have had a huge effect on my life. It has made me a more positive and caring person. It has also made me a better husband, father, and friend. I can honestly say that in some very tangible ways, gratitude has made my life better.
Look for the good in your life. Do not stew in your woes/sorrows.

Happy Halloween Everyone!
It is warmer but rainy here. I hope it stops in time for the kids to do their thing. I know many places are changing it to Friday because of the weather, but not here.
I am going to make a big pot of pea soup. Sounds like just the thing for dinner. I have some meaty smoked neck bones in the freezer that will work.
Am in the middle of figuring out bills. This is the most stressful thing for me. There just is not enough to go around. I pay what I can, but not even counting gas, it leaves me with $19 till the 20th. This is just awful. I am one of those who applied for assistance under the expanded health plans. We are right on the edge, income-wise. It is a matter of a couple of dollars where they would cover both of our Part B payments. That $209 extra per month would sure make a difference. We probably will still not qualify, but I figured that it would not hurt to ask. The online application took forever, and there were holes in it as it kept insisting that there was a third person living here. We have a little dog and a cat but otherwise, there are just two that I know of. I called the local office and the person I spoke with said that the online system is awful, but he did see that my application had already been received and would be reviewed by a caseworker. I will just have to wait and see. This is where I should be able to pray and things will work out, but this doesn't seem to work for me. Magical money does not come my way. Oh well. As long as I can make payment arrangements, things will be okay. I am grateful for so many things but it seems that I always have to go through this twice a month. Stress causes my health issues to get worse and I do what I can but it just does not work. I have been getting Dr. Stanley's "in Touch" magazine for a few months now and there have been several articles on surrendering all and also expounding on the "With God, all things are possible", explaining that this means possible, not necessarily easy. I guess with me, I should be thankful that they will make payment arrangements and not shut off my electricity instead of complaining that I am left without enough to make it till the next check.
Time to work on some more bills.
Have a most beautiful day! ![]()

Lynn -- Thank you for the song -- lovely!
I understand the budget problems. Medical bills (even co-pays) are impacting our budget.
Prayers for you to be able to pay your bills. I pray over our bills and thank God when a bill is paid.
Roy -- Cold winter. I like this verse when a person thinks him/her self an authority.

Good morning, Everyone. Got some nasty weather heading our way with heavy rain, wind and t-storm watches and warnings. Guess we'll seed how the roof repair job holds up. (Crossing fingers). Had 20 trick or treaters here last night (more than last year). They were all young kids. The costumes were adorable.
I have also applied for healthcare under "Obamacare". The status of my application is listed as "in progress", whatever that means. Don't think I'll have any trouble qualifying.
Youngest son's girlfriend started her new job this morning. She's working as a pre-K aide in a school system located south of us.
