what's the point of tracking information without location

I've noticed for about the last 12 months many shipping/postage companies have tracking information with no location data, what the hell is the point of the tracking information then? What a joke, next time I buy something with tracking, I'll message the seller beforehand to inform them if their tracking information waypoints contain no location data, expect negative feedback

That isn't the sellers fault and the seller can have the feedback removed because of that. That information comes from the shipping company. The seller has no control over it. I know USPS doesn't always show location information, same as UPS and FedEx.
