shipping prefernces

Hi all! I have a question I hope someone here can help me with.

I want to allow buyers to buy items from multiple listings. I want to charge the buyer the full price of s&h for the first item and then, let's just say, 50% off the shipping of each additional item.

How do I set the shipping preferences for this to happen? Can it be done? I've checked combine all item weights and specify handling cost for each additional item. I checked subtract percent for each additional item and entered 50%.

What's happening is it's combining the weights. Maybe because I'm choosing to combine all item weights? It's not adding any shipping costs for the additional items. Instead it's splitting the original s&h charge between the items and taking 50% off the shipping for the whole order

I don't understand how that works at all. I'm so confused. Thank you in advance for any help that could possibly be provided.

A rep suggested I don't offer any discount and refund the difference. Sounds great but I can picture buyers skipping over my listings because of not offering discounted shipping.

For calculated shipping you are on the right track, but once you set up the discount rule and give it a name, you have to enable that rule on every listing it applies to in the shipping section.  You can do this by revising the listing, or if many, by using the bulk editor.

State in your listing:

1. You give a shipping discount for combined items:

100% of shipping charges for 1st item.

50% off shipping charged for each additional item.

2. Simply add the items to your cart and request a combined total.
