Did you mean:

high shipping cost and delivery speed

I usually look at the total cost of a item before deciding to bid or buy, many sellers offer expedited priority mail which is expensive, it causes me to not pursue purchasing the item. While fast delivery can be good, why can't sellers offer more moderate cost , like first class shipping which is not quite as fast but considerably cheaper?

offering a moderate cost or a higher cost for faster delivery would give buyers  a option.

If it is something that is fragile/breakable, the longer it is the system the more likely it could be damaged. This does not even address all the issues the past year plus with slow delivery issues.

Why??? Well I'm sure the reasons are different for different sellers. You have a choice, pick a seller that you feel good about the shipping costs.

Best to you,

First Class can only be used for packages that weigh less than one pound. Most sellers do offer it for eligible packages.  It wouldn't hurt to inquire with the seller, if they only offer Priority and you think that the package would be eligible for FC.

With the USPS, priority mail is equivalent to first class shipping in terms of speed.  The only real difference is that anything 1 lb or more has to go Priority Mail, while anything less than 1 lb goes First Class.  There's a certain amount of insurance ($50) that comes with Priority Mail too.

As suggested, it depends on the item.  If it's a small item and the seller is using Priority Mail, you might inquire about it or look elsewhere.  A lot of sellers aren't that versed about how to handle the Postal Service for the best rates.  Then too, a lot of shippers will use Priority Mail because they can get the free boxes that the USPS provides for that service instead of sourcing packaging themselves.  But remember too, for items above 1lb, Priority Mail is going to be the best you get out of the USPS.
