I bought a vintage drum machine for $1000. After confirming with the seller that the item was in working order I purchased it nervously. When the item arrived at my house it did not work at all, was missing key features and was different from the picture used in the original posting. I communicated with the seller about this and he was no help. I continued a dialogue with the seller but received no response from him so I opened a claim with eBay. I ended up winning the claim and was given 10 days to ship the item back. They provided a label which the USPS claimed I couldn't use so I paid my own shipping and provided that tracking number to eBay. The item was delivered.
Fast forward to today and I get a message from eBay telling me that the case is closed and I won't be receiving my money back. I call them to appeal this and they tell me it's because the packaged was delivered with no signature required and that there isn't anything they can do for me anymore. Essentially I have to try and resolve this with the original seller or dispute the charge with PayPal. I'm livid.

PayPal has signature confirmation required too for $750 or more, so can't help either FYI.
But if you paid with a credit card, call the number on the back and file a chargeback for the reason Goods returned credit not received. You seller will pay the full refund, eBay and PayPal fees, and on top of that a $20 chargeback fine.

What was the reason USPS gave for not accepting the return label you were provided ?

I'm a little confused ... but let me offer a few things.
