Hi. So I bought an item which had Expedited shipping. The item was shipped the day after I paid. The estimated delivery time was from May 24 to May 29 (4-7 days).
Today is May 29, and I have been checking the status. It is still In Transit. The status has been showing “Departed: May 23” since... May 23rd. It has literally not changed till now, and today is the delivery date. I checked on USPS multiple times today as well, and it shows the same status.
Then I checked to see what specific type of shipping method was used, and it stated “USPS Priority Mail” on it.
Normally I wouldn’t post this, but basically all my items with priority mail get here within 3-4 days. For this item, not only is it the deadline, but the tracking status has shown the same thing for 6 days already!
The item was coming from U.S. held territory in Okinawa, Japan. Could this be a problem with the transfer?
Thanks for any help.

Today is actually Monday the 28th, tomorrow is the 29th so tomorrow is actually the latest delivery estimate. There's no mail delivery today because its Memorial Day. The item is coming from Japan(probably APO address?) so normal priority mail estimates probably don't apply and since there is also a federal holiday in the mix, I would expect it to arrive by the end of the week.

FWIW, recently I've had some packages delivered on Sundays, not consistently though. Two were delivered yesterday, but I wonder if the fact that both were in reused Amazon boxes played a role.
Am I correct in remembering that USPS experimented with Sunday parcel delivery over the holidays? Or was that just for Amazon?
I remember something like that.

USPS set up some special deal with Amazon to deliver packages on Sundays, but I've had non-Amazon packages delivered on Sundays, so probably they just brought them along so they'd have less to do on Monady.

In some areas packages do get delivered on Sunday. It started out as just Amazon but I think you are right in that some will take along Priority packages at the same time.
During the Christmas rush many areas will deliver all packages on Sundays (and holidays - express get delivered even on Christmas day) to lighten the load for the carriers on Monday.

Some Post Offices in certain states do deliver Priority mail on Sundays.
