I've noticed that USPS Priority Mail has SKYROCKETED in the last week. I just sold an item weighing 6 pounds and measuring 26x23x16. I will ship this across the country (coast to coast) via FedEx Ground for $59. The USPS now charges an astronomical $162 for shipping this Priority Mail. This is the problem: eBay has this nasty habit of sending all returns via Priority Mail. So, if I wanted this $120 item back because the buyer was dissatisfied, it would cost me WAY more in shipping than the item was worth. eBay: STOP THE MADNESS!! HAVE BUYERS SHIP BACK HEAVY OR BIG ITEMS VIA THE SAME FORM OF SHIPMENT AS THEY WERE SHIPPED!!!!!!!

eBay provides USPS return labels exclusively.
If you want the buyer to return using FedEx or UPS, you will need to (1) enable RMAs through eBay and (2) purchase return labels through another postage vendor then upload that label through the eBay return. You can only upload your own label if RMAs are enabled.

As announced October 2021, this was part of the January 2022 price changes but given a delayed application date of April 3, 2022.
There is a new “nonstandard fee” for packages that must be sorted manually by the USPS when the dimensions of the package exceed sortation requirements.
Packages with length over 22 inches will incur a $4.00 surcharge
Packages with length over 30 inches will incur a $15.00 surcharge
Packages over 2 cubic feet will incur a $15.00 surcharge.
There is a $1.50 "noncompliance fee" for packages that are greater than one cubic foot or have a box length greater than 22 inches if the customer did not provide dimensions or provided inaccurate dimensions inside the online postage provider.
Yes, USPS will stack these surcharges where applicable. (Ex: over 22" and over 2 cubic feet and seller put wrong dimensions in the online label form - surcharge would be $4.00 + $15.00 + $1.50 for a total of $20.50)
Yes, these surcharges apply to the Priority branded triangular tube boxes.
No, the surcharge does not apply to the recently discontinued Large Flat Rate Board Game Box if you have any left in stock.
No, the surcharge does not apply to Media Mail.

Enable the "require RMA number" option on your return settings. Then you will have the option of sending your own label instead of the automatic Priority Mail that ebay uses.

Wait WHAT, if I mail a package UPS, if a return is open it comes back by USPS? I'll have to look into that because I was getting ready to switch my fishing rods over to UPS but not if return by the PO. Just can't get a break anymore
