Weird pricing with USPS plus hidden options

Lately,  when figuring shipping prices for USPS in PayPal, I get unusually high rates. For example, I was figuring a price for a 6lb package to be shipped a couple states away and got $35. I was expecting more like $15. When I used Parcel Select I got $11 which is inline with what I expect.

Another annoyance I found when calculating rates at the USPS site, it does not show Parcel Select rates anymore. Why is that?

The shipping calculator at usps.com only offers retail pricing.  So it shows prices for Retail Ground, which is the retail equivalent of the online service which is called Parcel Select Ground. Both services used to be known as Parcel Post.
