So a buyer purchased two items from me and asked for them to be packaged together. I have set up my account to do this. When I used the shipping calculator to his zip code on a new invoice the shipping costs was shown as $8.02.
Then, after he pays me and I print out the shipping label, using all the same information for box dimensions and weight, the actual shipping cost is $10.02. What gives? Not only am I eating another $2 on shipping but another $.20 on the shipping final value fee.
Am I doing something wrong?

I can't answer your question but I can say that you are charged a fvf on the amount the buyer paid for shipping, not on the amount that you paid for shipping.

Those prices do not match what the USPS charges for shipping. So there is either a glitch, or ebay has been tinkering with tings again, and broke something. At the top of this discussion board is a video on using calculated shipping that may answer your question. It is not beyond the realm of possibility that new fees have been added, or changes have been made.
I print out the shipping label, using all the same information for box dimensions and weight". can you fit the items in one box using the previous information? At least the weight would have to change, unless it all comes to less than one pound.

@reddoorretro How much is the handling fee on your listings with Parcel Select?
And what are the box dimensions of the shipment in question?

Were the amouts $8.04 and $10.04? Here's what I think happened:
You sent an invoice for the 7lb rate to zone 1/2 at a rate of $8.04. Upon checkout the buyer changed the shipping address and the new address was in zone 4 at a rate of $10.04.

Also, check to see that your ship-from zip code is correct on the shipping label page. Sometimes that gets changed and can cause this same type of issue.

And we found the problem! To fix it go to the page for creating a shipping label. Click the change button by your ship from address then enter your correct ship-from zip code on the pop-up screen. Save changes. The next few labels you print check to make sure the change stuck. If you see the shipping variance again then you will know where to look first.
