Using the Global Shipping option will override your USA shipping exclusions

BEWARE! If you sell on the global shipping program as well as your USA shipping you have to go into your account settings (shipping settings ,hit edit, and uncheck the little box at the bottom that says:

Override my shipping exclusions for Global Shipping Program eligible items.
Otherwise your exclusions will be overridden and you may end up having to ship to Alaska or Hawaii or a protectorate even if you have excluded those locations from your shipping preferences.
This happened to me! All my listings that had the global shipping option became eligible for shipping even to my excluded shipping destinations as I did not notice that little tiny box at the bottom when I set my shipping preferences on my account settings.

Thanks for the reminder - during covid we stopped using GSP.  Have considered using it again - appreciate the reminder!

Many of your listings use USPS to ship so you would be paying the same you would to the farthest zone in the continental US. Any reason you don't want to ship to Hawaii or Alaska in those cases?

Alaska and Hawaii are NOT Global shipping destination eligible so whoever designed this does not have a clue.

Well, most of the shipping exclusions are for all the countries, individually, so from a programming design standpoint, they did have a clue & it makes total sense.  There are a maybe a hundred of those, so around 98% are for foreign countries & lumped in there are 2 domestic ones,  so the domestic ones must be caught up in the entire override.

It is extremely unusual to have someone willing to ship to Italy, Brazil, Africa, but not AK or HI or Puerto Rico (which is just a US zip code).  So, I'm sure that's why it overrides the 2 domestic ones as well.   All the exclusions are part of the same table.

OP, may I ask why you don't want to ship to these zip codes?  AK & HI are just a US zone & cost no more than any other pkg to a far away zone.

Nevertheless, it's your choice to do so & the only way I can think of is to do what you did, uncheck the exclusions BUT ALSO make sure that you don't have any other countries selected to exclude, out of the gian list of countries & also that means in any individual listing, as it's not just a global exclusion, it's a local, per listing exclusion too.   That's why they provided the check box, makes it easy to override everything at once, when someone goes to GSP.
