USPS tracking delay stress

I dropped off a package with USPS over the weekend. Dropped in the inside package slot. Priority mail with signature verify. No tracking updates for 4 days now. I see there are other posts here with the same issue but even longer. No USPS tracking so no idea if our packages are moving through the USPS network. I put a lost package trace on mine via USPS also.

I also checked an eBay forum on reddit. Others with same issue. It looks like this is the state of USPS nowadays. Also have an Amazon package arriving to me via USPS with no tracking after days. I expect it's all a combination of the holiday and virus spike.

For myself I decided to take down all my listings. eBay still expects quick shipment which I do but I cannot ship into what looks like a non-working system. I will wait until the holiday is over. I also let my buyer know of the USPS delay. Kind of expecting a refund request but hopefully buyer will be patient.

Just want add my notes in writing so others & eBay will know.

Good luck to all.

USPS tracking delay stress

Yes, it's a disaster all around. USPS rarely actually loses packages, so they will eventually work their way through this huge backlog.  We have to just hope and pray that buyers are patient.  I shut down my listings on Monday.  The package that I shipped on Monday did get two scans but it's apparently still sitting at the sorting center near my house.

USPS's insurance claim policy says you can file a lost package claim after 15 days.

USPS tracking delay stress

We've having major delays in deliveries as well. Actual delivery times are doubled. We've been filing help requests through USPS and it does seem to get some of them going again.

We also have shut down our store and listings. We are counting the number of our mailed USPS packages that are not moving several times a day, and plan to keep things shut down until there is some significant improvement in the situation. We have one package that was shipped on 11/28 from IL to CA, that shows tracking to Sacramento, but no movement for past several days. That is 12 days now, and who knows how much longer it will be, with the heaviest Christmas rush still to come. Only a couple of buyers have messaged to inquire, and all so far have been understanding, but it may well get worse before it gets better, so shut down for now.
