USPS robbed me again...

It's happened again.  This is the second time USPS has done this to me...

I sold an item for $9.99 with free shipping for the buyer.  I printed the label through Ebay...USPS Ground Advantage $4.77 shipping charge.  Today I received a message through Ebay Messages stating that USPS was charging me an additional $6.99 for the shipment for not using the correct service.  What?!?!?  The item when packaged weighed 8 ounces and was shipped in a plain white 6 x 4 x 3 inch shipping box via USPS Ground Advantage.  How did I not use the correct service?  Even the tracking number on USPS.COM shows that it was shipped Ground Advantage.

I really hate how USPS robs me every year with no recourse for me to get the money back.  I've already tried disputing the charges the last time this exact same thing happened and they refused the claim so they could keep the money.

Instead of using the on-line dispute form, use the phone number attached to the email which should have been included in the email which you had received.

The same exact situation happened to me several years ago, and I used the phone number, rather than appealing on-line.  I was eventually connected to a HUMAN BEING (!!!), who listened to my problem, and suggested that my package may have somehow become attached to a bigger and heavier package.  She informed me that she would open up an appeal in my name, using the the case number attached to the USPS email; and, if the investigation found in my favor, I would receive a refund within a few days.

A few days later, I received a refund.

Pick up the phone and call USPS -- don't trust the on-line appeal form, which is too open to AI interpretation.

@cobra_viper   This has happened to me a few times. Go ahead and contest it (it's very easy). Packages are scanned as they roll by on a conveyor belt, which handles thousands of packages at a time The volume is huge. Yours may have been scanned incorrectly, accidentally with another package, etc. In the several cases down through the last few years, the mistake has always been corrected and I have gotten a refund to the payment source.

USPS robbed me again...

When I went through the dispute process yesterday, it gave me a list of options to choose from in a drop down menu and then I could write about 3 sentences to go with it.  It's very basic and like I said above, they did not reimburse me when this happened last year...so I highly doubt that I will get my money back this time.  Especially since their reasoning for charging me wasn't an option in the drop down menu.

USPS robbed me again...

On 1 occasion I received the same message when the USPS first sent my item to the wrong state and then accused me of paying media mail rate instead of GA. Go to the USPS site to dispute the claim and you'll be refunded.
