USPS not updating tracking

Folks - Has anyone else notice thaat USPS is failing to update their tracking until delivery?  This seems to be a bigger problem lately, with most of the parcels that I drop into the slot not updating at all until delivery.

Indeed, I have started to take my stuiff and wait in line to get the items receipted in - and to top it all off, yesterday the clerk gave me a lot of gas about creating more work for her,

The thing is - I have started to insure all of my items becuase the Post Office is getting a bit unreliable. I haven't lost anything yet - but I had about $100 worth of books sit in the Post Office for 3 days with no explanation.  However, if I file a claim, the first thing they are understandably going to look at is if they have received the item.  If they don't have any indication they have actually gotten it, then they may decide to deny the claim.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Oh It seems projecting quite a bit to buy insurance when you have had no issues. Maybe you should just use priority mail and you get the free insurance and faster delivery also? I have to say I have had few issues of lost packages in 16 yrs of selling. One was to Hungary and that is the only one I can think of from thousands and thousands of packages mailed.

What I do as both buyer/seller is to sign up for email updates for all tracking numbers.  For some reason, that seems to work.  I select "all updates" and I get the email(s) for each movement up to and including delivery.

Insurance won't help you if there are no scans. I shipped something 2 weeks ago and there was no tracking until the package was delivered and the only scans were at the buyers distribution center and PO. (And boy was I glad that I had sold it somewhere other than eBay!).

You have every right to ask for and receive an Accepted scan and a receipt for your package. Speak to the Postmaster about the clerk who works to hard. Good Luck to you.

No. Not in the least. I buy & sell all the time and have zero issues. How are you printing your labels? Maybe your prinhter is not printing legible bar codes & so the carrier finally keys in the barcode number by hand because he knows he will be accountable if his Delievered scan doesnt work.

Try getting a free My Usps account on the Usps website. That will send you tracking messages whenever a package is being sent to you. You can see how many scans that pacage gets & compare that to your own that you are sending out. If you see a difference then maybe there is a printer issue.

I usually use Priority because it is usually the cheapest way to go and I always take the free Insurance. The problem is - unless the Post Office knows it has the item then they will refuse the claim - otherwise all I would have to do is buy postage for some item and make a claim without actually mailing it. Hence if there is no acceptance scan then I am screwed if it is lost. Yes, I haven't had anything lost yet - but I have had some items inexplicably sit somewhere. The books were the most worrisome - there was no acceptance scan and had I filed a claim then they would of laughed at me.
