Hello All,
I know the pandemic is messing a bunch of things up lately but I am curious to see if others are noticing longer than normal delays with USPS priority mail. This week I have had (that buyers have brought up to me) 10 packages drop off of tracking. It seems they end up arriving but instead of 2 days it is taking 8-10, with a 4 day drop off in tracking updates.
Is anyone else experiencing this right now or am I somehow getting very unlucky?

YES! I have experienced it as a buyer and seller. I being patient, as I believe everyone is doing the best they can under difficult situations

I hope Ebay is prepared to step in and remove any negatives left by buyers experiencing long delays in getting packages.
This week everything seems to have stopped for packages going through my Chicago area sorting facility. Anything that is not Priority is not moving for days. Priority is taking 2 days just to show up. I sent some non Ebay items including masks to a nearby friend in need and it has been days and they haven't received. Everything that shows arriving on time ends up arriving late. Many First Class and Media Mail packages are just sitting for day on end.

EBAY - please help.. same story for me, I have daily pickups from my post office; however, they missed pickup last Saturday and as a result I had to drop off 80+ packages Monday morning at the PO, of which the majority have no scan or "awaiting pickup." Can we please get a response on how eBay can protect us sellers? Thanks so much!

Again eBay, going to ask you to step up and release some kind of statement here. 1 day extended delivery time is a joke. It's not even close to one extra day. I have numerous packages nearing 20 days in transit.
Please, address the issue and save us sellers the headache of having to deal with this.

You need to get with your postmaster about that. They are expected to scan each and every package (or at least a SCAN sheet if one is presented) as soon as the packages are taken into their possession. That's what the Acceptance scan is, after all.
eBay will credit you with shipping it on time once the first in-network scan is shown by the post office and within your stated Handling time, and that's supposed to be at Acceptance time. Covid-19 or not, whoever's taking possession of the packages can certainly summon up the energy to point the scanner at the label and pull the trigger. The Acceptance scan is second only to the Delivered scan in terms of importance.

I'm in the same boat. In fact because of that I had my ebay store on vacation mode from March to mid May. I was gonna wait until June to reopen but I was tired of having to pay for store fees without selling so I opened early. I shipped a package after Memorial Day on Tuesday the 26th (I left it inside my mail box for the postal worker to pick up). Tracking still has not updated as of today (it only showed that a shipping label was created). I know this is the new norm due to the pandemic but I'm beginning to wonder if my package is actually just lost, or stolen? If it is stolen then I will no longer leave packages inside my mailbox for pick up and need to make trips to the PO (even though I don't really want to go there unless I have to). If it's just because USPS is behind then I am ok with waiting. I send my buyer a note to explain to her the situation but have not heard anything back. The item was only about $10 so if I have to refund I am ok with it but I am worried about future packages in higher value. I am contemplating about putting my shop on vacation mode again. The dilemma!

I never leave any package in the mail box. What I do is put a note in the mail box that I have a package and to knock on my door. My carrier is the best and she doesn't mind (it is their job, she says). I also see that she scans the package right away. If it is a sub, I ask them to scan it right away, so I am assured it at least gets the pickup scan. I've never had a problem asking them to do this. I would worry like you if it were picked up without being scanned. I also tip my carrier at Christmas, usually with something I have made and a $$ too. You wouldn't believe how much she appreciates it. Being around friends that are carriers also, they have told me that the little tip they get at Christmas makes a world of difference, because they then feel appreciated. Yes, I know they aren't suppose to receive tips, according to the PO. But this is between me and my carrier, the PO doesn't have to know. Get to know your carrier, it makes a difference.

you are so lucky! Ugghhhh..... I can't set up for carrier pick up since my regular mailman retired. He was great. For the past 4 months I have had a different one ever other week, two of my packages came up missing. The mailman that was on that week said he couldn't remember if he grabbed them or not. But the other ones got scanned. There were 6 all together and two just disappeared. So I been going to my post office few blocks away myself. Does make it hard since kids are home from school and I can't get out everyday and I don't like taking lil one out if I don't have to so I had to extend my handling time for the time being.
I wish we had someone regular again so I could talk to them and make sure everything is ok. I NEVER had issue with my old mailman and WTH is taking so long to get someone to take over my route? It makes no sense to me. Just venting, so frustrated with it. I even had my own packages stolen or whatever they did with them. I know they have delivered to a neighbor a few times, one I found the empty box thrown on my lawn and the person that stole the contents wrote on box "wrong address" after they opened it and took everything out of it.
They will have a regular once they have a permanent replacement. I would do like I said, even if it isn't a regular carrier. Be nice, sickie sweet if you have to. Put the note in your mailbox, and stand there with the package in your hand and ask them to scan it right away. Walk to the truck with it if they don't have the scanner in their hands. Tell them you get demerits by your selling site, if you don't get it scanned right away. They may not know that you really depend on the scan. I don't think you will have a problem. You can always talk to the postmaster, but that sometimes creates animosity with the carriers, since the postmaster and managers might reprimand them. Keep in mind also that the new carriers are not as well trained and tested like they used to be. They also pay them a lot less then they used to.

Actually, if you scheduled a pickup your regular carrier isn't the one that is suppose to pick them up, I believe.7606dennis
I don't know about everywhere else ,, but here it is the regular postman that delivers the mail who also gathers up scheduled package pick ups. However we had a few problems this last week. Our regular carrier is on vacation and a new fellow is doing his route . We were used to all the mail service being completed by noon each but now we're lucky to get anything by 6 pm . They're failing to notice carrier pick up requests and whenever a miracle happens they still forget to scan. I'll be glad when Monday comes . Tulips

am still waiting for a $85.00 purchase on Etsy that was shipped CANADA POST from April 1st. ekmadonna
Canada seems to be suffering an even worse slow down in mail services than we are . It's taking almost as long to get orders from there as it takes from China . And the one seller I've been purchasing from isn't providing tracking numbers either which makes it even more difficult to know when it might be arriving. Tulips

The current situation with the USPS is terrible I currently have 126 packages most are first class mail with a few Priority Mail and then several Media Mail they are all LATE some are were mailed back in June others in early July I have seen Media Mail take as long as 8 weeks first class mail 23 days and Priority Mail 21 days
I have filed for dozens of packages and have buyers filling not received cases left and right. The big issue is eBay is not supporting sellers on this problem and forcing refunds even though the mail is not lost it is the virus causing shut downs of hubs a loss of drivers to deliver and move the mail and packages are just a mess now. It was bad back in April and it is much worse now in July.

I had media mail take almost 5 weeks recently from PA to TX. Haven’t seen delays with First Class or Priority.
