Since the tyvek envelope is technically for priority mail has anyone been charged priority if they add a first class label to it?

You CANNOT use priority packaging of any type for first class mail. You will be backcharged through ebay or worse, your buyer will receive the item "postage due" and will likely either refuse it (rightly) or neg you, or both.

You can't even use the "priority" tape at the free kiosk counter at the post office if the item isn't sent priority.... or you'll be charged priority rates, I was told that from the post office workers at my local post office several years ago.... If you need tape, and you aren't sending priority, ask them at the counter to borrow tape, don't use that free "Priority" tape if you aren't sending priority! 🙂

Anything that says priority on it can only be used for priority mail. That includes turned inside out. However most are now printed on both sides to prevent that anyway.

Short answer is yes. I am sure people that have misused priority supplies have gotten caught. It is illegal. Do not even consider it.

YES. This is stealing when you use priority mail supplies and ship anything that is NOT priority mail. NOw if the buyer got charged the fee, they must be pretty ticked off so immediately email them , apologize and give them whatever fee they had to pay the post office. Stop using those tyvek envelopes. You can buy very similar envelops on ebay and also at www.uline.com.
