Hello,
I sent out an item in a priority mail box with a first class shipping label. It got sent back to me after returning from Florida. I decided to go back to the post office with the PRIORITY MAIL taped off with no visible signs of it anywhere. The clerk said they cannot take it because it's not the right box. I do not have any other boxes laying around and have a very tight schedule. My problem is:
1. Why would they accept it when it's clearly right box, have it sent to florida and back for NO REASON.
2. I've sent another item before, same process and it shipped fine.
3. It's just a box at that point.
Thoughts?

When you purchase your postage on eBay (or from any other online postage vendor), you get a discount from the retail rate.
You print the label and the tracking is automatically uploaded into the transaction.
The funds are taken from your PayPal account.

Taking a shortcut and avoiding the long line, i complied, which i found out was a mistake. However, while I was tracking the shipping, it said it had not been accepted at the post office yet, yet still sent to Florida and back?!
I am fortunate. The offices that I go to scan my packages when I put them on the counter. Small ones using the hand held scanner. Larger on the POS terminal where a receipt is printed if I want it.
As with yours, it is not always fool proof. On Friday I had 3 to ship. The woman scanned them.
I have gotten in the habit of "babysitting" my shipments. 2 of the 3 had an acceptance scan at 11:37 AM. The 3rd one had nothing. The 3rd one also did not get an arrival/departure scan at the processing plant where it is handled next.
This was worrisome, as the buyer is a "0" feedback buyer. I'm thinking here comes a big red donut. Today at 2:52AM it arrived at a processing plant in ............... Florida. Will likely get delivered tomorrow.
Also no scan gets me a "not updated with carrier acceptance" ding. 95%... here we go headed for "above standard".
The more intense "babysitting" of my shipment was intensified by a recent scanning problem.
On May 20th I was checking on things that had been sent out only to find that there were no carrier acceptance scans showing for 13 packages sent out on May 16-18. The data did not transmit from the carrier scanner.
11 of the 13 did get a scan at the processing plant reverting the scan by default back to the office listed on the return address. 2 packages did not get scans until another day passed. Not a good thing when my listings say 1 day shipping.
On the 20th (SAT) I emailed the Postmaster responsible for that office to let him know that 13 acceptance, and 3 delivery scans were not showing.
On Monday when I took my packages to a small office to ship, as pickup was clearly creating serious problems for me, I found out that the Postmaster that I had emailed was out of the office for a while.
As luck would have it, on Monday the 22nd the person (OIC) replacing the Postmaster was filling in at the office where I was dropping my packages. The situation was explained. I told her that all was well on the 15th. Suggested that possibly a scanner update, or something happened after that causing the problem.
That person assured me that they would check into it. She refused to say anything to the carrier at the time. (carrier was present) My thought was the carrier could look at the scanner to see if there was any obvious errors. She was also emailed the tracking #'s for the failed scans after I returned home.
Fast forward to Friday May 26. I have been wasting my money on gas to drive my packages to the post office each day to get scans. 3 more deliveries with no scanner updates, so no corrective action has been taken.
I went to the office where the OIC responsible for the smaller office was located to provide an updated list of failed deliveries. She was sorry, but she had not yet had a chance to check into the problem. (4 days later)
During the next week I was able to talk to an employee, and request that her Postamster try to assist the OIC in resolving this obvious scanner problem.
At this point 10 deliveries to my address had failed to update. I suggested that this can not possibly be just my items. We are now talking hundreds of missed updates.
How can the USPS not have a report coming out to the affected Zip Code offices(2 offices, same carrier, different zips) flagging this problem. (Probably comes out the following month) During my visit on Friday June 2nd a scan was made for a delivery to each zip to test for updated information.
Apparent it failed. I was called the next day to let me know that the carrier would have a different scanner for that day's pick ups, and the carrier would get a new scanner, or updates to get things fixed.
May 16th to June 2nd with no carrier acceptance/delivery scans.

@stupid9758 wrote:Hello! I'll look for a scale I can use to weigh my items before shipping. Thank you for replying.
I have a scale that I have been using for years that has more than paid for itself. Guessing, and over/under postage is not a good thing.
I recently purchased a back up scale. Got to thinkng that if my present one went belly up I would be making trips in to check postage before shipping, or guessing.
I was not in a rush to get it, so I watched a few listings (oh watchers, why are thet showing up, but that is a different rant) , and was able to get one delivered to my dorr for under $10. Seller had many listed. Sometimes the bidding went high, sometimes a one bid deal. Mine went under $1 + shipping. An expensive scale is not needed. The accuracy of a jewelers scale is not needed

I received a 9-lb. package the other day shipped in a large priority box. The shipping label showed that the seller paid for a SFRB. Although it came "postage due," my carrier didn't collect from me but mentioned that the post office is cracking down on those who cheat.
I resent having to pay increased rates because others cheat the system. @stupid9758, if you can't afford to pay the full amount your package costs to ship, then you shouldn't be selling online.
