Anyone receiving a lot of "NIXIE" returned to sender mail back while the recipient addresses are correct?

I'm not experiencing that at all. As a matter of fact, I'm receiving crackerjack USPS service. Sorry for your troubles...

If the address is correct and needs no alteration, take it to the post office and have them resend it at no cost.  Bring a clear not-applied copy of the address, if the old label is hard to read.

USPS NIXIE problem

When I used to live in the USA I used to ask to have them resend the NIXIEd registered mail to no avail. USPS refused every single of them telling me to pay for it again. They fiercely claimed there must be sumthin wrong with the recipient's address, which was not. Now that I live in Europe, I get a lot of NIXIE back even from my relatives living in the USA and all the recipient addresses are professionally printed on professional white sticker labels by me and spell check and even verified online and the recipients swear their address is correct and that they have been at home and no such mail even reached their local post office! This has been happening to many of my friends too. Sometime in the past a friend complained that all his 8 different Registered letters addressed to 8 different American recipients in different cities and states returned to him with NIXIE labels. All were mailed on the same day! I believe USPS is saving money that way returning the mail from the US border.

What I do now is I scan the returned envelope and the registered mail receipt and submit a claim to a local postal service in Europe, who in turn after some weeks or months refund me those charges. I am not sure if they get reimbursed by the USPS or pay with their own money but what USPS is doing to foreign registered inbound mail past 2009 is a disaster for everyone. Now the biggest loss of mail and theft is not in Africa, but in the USA.

Me too! Recvd six envelopes back this Friday ALL from envelopes I shipped on the previous Monday (All were shipped from NE Pennsylvania and none made it past Harrisburg before coming back so no real attempt to Deliver was ever made)!

All of mine were shipped with the horrific-sadistic EBAY STANDARD ENVELOPE for trading cards. Were yours those too? I'd love to spot a pattern.

Of the six envelopes returned, 4 said "No Mail Receptacle" and two said "Temporarily Away" - both excuses were false.

I got a friendly shrug from the Clerk and they told me to rip off the NIXIE and drop it in the mail slot again.

Never happened before. I hope this isn't the start of something we deal with all the time.

Nope. I have had exactly one item returned to me and that was because the buyer had mistakenly forgot to put his apartment number on it (he lived in a duplex and apparently his postal carrier couldn't figure out which of the two halves of the duplex his package was supposed to go to...).

USPS NIXIE problem

ALL. THE. TIME. I call it Lazy Carrier Syndrome.  Carriers are drilled to deliver Every Piece, Every Day.  Their raises are tied to performance of this task.  Scenario: letter is accidentally sorted into the wrong carrier's bin.  Said carrier cannot deliver it, wrong route.  So rather than bring it back to go out again tomorrow (demerit) they slap an Undeliverable sticker on it (no demerit). Send it back.  A week there, a week back, waste of time and unhappy customers.  Many Postmasters will even apply the stickers if the carrier does bring it back.  My local carrier says that's not supposed to happen but that unfortunately it does.  If I drop it back in the mail it usually gets there just fine the 2nd time...at least for letters.

Deceitful "NIXIE" labeling is a "little" scam USPS is running for the past 15 years or so. Along with another scam released in 2009 which turns foreign inbound Registered mail into a stealable material by turning it into a First Class mail deceiving foreign senders who paid for Registered mail expecting to have this service go all the way to the recipient. I just got Nixie'd again and again and lost some registered mails sent to the United States as well as they were unable to find them. Our local postal service in Europe says they do not even get reimbursed by the USPS or the United States for all the claims for the lost (stolen) Registered mail sent and lost in the United States as well as all the mail returned back with yellow deceitful "NIXIE" labels on it.

I have now discontinued sending Registered mail to the United States, but after some research it turns out it is possible to send Fully Insured Registered Mail to Iran and some other countries I thought were not possible to mail to! Recently I had send Registered mail to Mozambique and it arrived in just 5 days.

It is still possible to receive full tracking and even fully insure mail sent to the United States if it is mailed by Postal Parcel with full insurance. Also UPS, with tracking but without insurance.

Quite an achievement by the United States in the XXI century. Congratulations!

I had been double-nixied a couple times as well. Received registered mail with the deceitful "NIXIE" label and re-mailed it again and received it back again with another deceitful "NIXIE" label a second time. All of that happened to the verified, confirmed, well spelled, printed addresses. I hope those lazy carriers are identified and are fired from their jobs.

Keep on submitting those claims to receive your postal charges back after receiving your mail back bearing deceitful NIXIE labels to send the message to the USPS that will hurt their coffers.
