If you are a seller in a covid hot spot I would strongly recommend that you do not use USPS media mail. I am in New York and currently have 9 packages not moving that were shipped with media mail. One package that I shipped on March 31st has not been scanned since April 4th and the buyer has filed an INR case. I have launched a missing mail search but the buyer will not wait for the outcome. I sell mainly media, rare DVDs and CDs, and offered buyers a choice of media mail or first class shipping. The buyers overwhelmingly choose media mail so I have decided to eliminate that option and will now only ship first class. If this doesn't work I will be forced to shut down. The USPS has not been forthcoming with its customers concerning the massive delays with media mail that are now commonplace. I checked their alerts before shipping and found nothing to indicate the size of the problem. Sellers protect yourselves because no one else will.

That's just an illusion. Cases mean nothing right now. No one even gave 1 iota.
Your package moves cos it did. There are millions of packages out there and no USPS employee did a thing to go find your package and make it move.
Guaranteed.

Today is 01/04-2/2021 On 12/16/20 I shipped 18 packages Media mail on USPS Receipt #xxxxxxxxxxxx none of them have been delivered. The tracking says " USPS IN POSSESSION OF ITEM 2020-12-16, 17:56:00, BRONX, NY 10458 " No further movement or info since 12/20/2020.
People were expecting these for Christmas and I am issuing refunds.
I did do the missing mail form for 2 of the 18. because those people are asking for refunds. Because of how eBay treats sellers I may as well just give them a refund. I'm asking the buyers since they requested a refund. Then the package is finally delivered they should refuse the delivery and the post office will return to sender at no cost. But they will probably end up keeping the book for free.
US Postal Service sent me an email saying the issue is resolved, basically stating your packages are late because there behind and there's nothing they can do about it. I'm posting the entire message from the post office below.
Dear XXX XXXXX,
This is in response to your inquiry regarding the delivery of a package. Please accept our sincere apology for any inconvenience this matter may have caused you.
The Postal Service is aware of the frustration and disappointment caused when we do not live up to our commitment of safe and reliable mail service.
The Postal Service is still experiencing delays in processing. I have reviewed your tracking and found this package was mailed media mail, which is our slowest means of service. With the delays, the plants are processing Priority, First Class then they are working Media Mail.
At this time I do not have an estimated time of delivery, but I contacted the local plants for assistance and will continue monitoring the tracking until your package is delivered.
Have the sender file a missing mail report via our website at USPS com to assist in locating this package. If the package is insured, they can file a claim online for this package which will also assist locating this package.
I will contact as you as soon as I have any updates on your package. Even though this case is going to be marked resolved, know I will still keep this case open locally until the package is delivered.
Contact me directly at (845) XXXXXX if you have any questions or concerns.
An apology is no substitute for good service, but I want to offer one on behalf of the Postal Service. We appreciate your reporting this matter to us. It helps to know the kinds of difficulties our customers have so we can work toward improvements. The information you have provided will be shared with management as they continue their efforts to improve service performance in your area.
Thank you for the opportunity to address this matter with you. If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
Audra Torres
Postmaster 18 (B)

Hello fellow Ebayers, as of March 2021 I see no improvement in this situation. As a buyer in Long Island NY, since November I have waited weeks for some Media Mail purchases that sat in Distribution Centers. I'm waiting on two right now, one of which seems to be going on a U.S. tour:
pkg 1: Feb 22 arrived in Charleston WV, Feb 23 arrived in Jersey City NJ, Feb 24 arrived in Metro NY, Mar 7 arrived in Fort Worth TX (???)
pkg 2: Feb 24 arrived in Denver CO, Feb 27 arrived in Washington DC, Mar 6 arrived in Jersey City NJ
As a seller I feel very fortunate none of my buyers have opened cases or requested refunds yet. I understand USPS is short-staffed (and short-machined?) and have to prioritize the more expensive rates, but this is still frustrating.

I use the USPS very little... they are soooo bad now and things are being damaged... most of the postmen and post women are very unhappy at their jobs so they don't care.. I wish there was a way to replace these over paid uncaring people..
