For those that suspended selling until shipment issues were cleared up, I'm happy to report that, at least for me, things are seemingly back to normal. For the first time in several weeks, I'm down to ZERO in-limbo or significantly late shipments. In fact, I have no outstanding items shipped before Jan 11. Not everything is lightning fast, but everything is moving fairly well.
One caveat - I don't do much shipping via media mail. I still send out some items MM - but I've (mostly) switched to first class or priority, only using MM for items that have a margin significantly impacted by using FC or Priority.
Of course, I'm not telling anyone to list. Everyone has their own comfort level/risk tolerance/margin pressures. For me, it makes sense to ship/take the risk of refunds from late shipments.
Also, don't think that I didn't refund any shipments. I had to refund four shipments from early Dec to early Jan.

What happens when a package is stuck halfway to the buyer? Hasn't moved in 2 weeks. Do I have to refund the buyer, and take the loss?

Tagging on: I received a very expensive package from Germany yesterday. Mailed to me October 30th
That's 77 days.

NO NOT BACK TO NORMAL! 2 CASES OPENED THIS WEEK ON ITEMS NOT RECEIVED! THIS IS JUST RIDICULOUS! EBAY DID NOTHING TO HELP DURING THIS USPS NITEMARE! THE BUYERS ARE NOT BEING UNDERSTANDING EITHER!!

I have one package stuck in Columbus, Ohio for 7 days now. It was being scanned regularly until a few days ago, no scans since. I hope the buyer is understanding.
And that one didn't get a scan until the day after I mailed it either, so it looks like I was slow to ship. I shipped in one day.
Another package took 8 days to get to an address in New York that would normally take 2 days, but it got there. Most mail is moving, but slowly. Some percentage still getting stuck, unfortunately.

No. Not back to normal.
Did not ship the last 2 weeks in December.
Mailed 41 pkgs on 1/4.
2 have been delivered—1 express (which was 4 days late) and a 1st class to AZ in 2 days.
37 of the remaining 39 were priority and all have an acceptance scan. But no departure scan from the PO. No scans at any distribution centers.
Postmaster says there are 75+ trucks waiting to be unloaded in Philadelphia and Trenton. Estimated date to be “caught up” is early February.
Still have 2 missing from a 12/3 shipment. Both finally got a scan in VA on 12/26. Nothing since. Both were priority and headed to the West Coast.
What a nightmare!

Definitely not better, got an item shipped out Jan 3rd, still hold in facility in Philadelphia, PA IS the worst now. anther item in the city still after 45 days. Few refund requests from customers for late shipment already. And eBay already approved. And can’t spend $15 to intercept the item, gonna lose money either way, and customer seems getting the refund and free item after all. Making negative profit around December. And canceled couple orders for suspected addresses

Thank you for your comment. This is the first holiday season I have ever had problems with shipped items not arriving to one Buyer period- and one Buyer REALLY LATE. I have been an Ebay Seller/Buyer since 2003 (approx.)
Thru the years I have always shipped USPS Priority (ship to US only)..... Never problem. Im sure the biggest overload to Postal Service has been due to Coved-19 - Ebay recommends USPS First Class (cheaper for Buyer and you get Tracking #). HOWEVER!!!!! Due to these 2 shipment nightmares which resulted in 2 cases being opened (even tho communicating reg w buyers and Tracking showed date shipped and items in transit), I WILL NEVER SHIP VIA USPS FIRST CLASS AGAIN! Priority gets pkg there within 2-3 business days.... and for some reason folks working in that part of Post office understand Priority Mail needs to get to recipient pronto. Shipping during December was a complete nightmare this year.

JOIN THE CLUB FRIEND!!!! yikes! I do have a question tho. So I sold item Dec. 10th 8:00AM- Contacted Buyer- thanked them for purchase- let them know shipping label printed and item would be shipped that day, and it was, and Tracking number available for them to track item during transit. Told them IF THEY HAD ANY ISSUES PLEASE LET ME KNOW I WAS HAPPY TO HELP. I normally check to make sure items sold are delivered etc.... but with work, family, and travel during holiday somehow did not see this item not delivered to Chula Vista, CA! I was notified around New Yrs Eve item not received...Checked Tracking # and update was that item ARRIVED Chula Vista Post office, Dec!4th 10:00AM- on truck and out for delivery 10:20AM..... I was out of town- no human to speak to thru USPS.com.....told buyer would go to local Post office when I got back in town-did that- and my Post office looked up item, said there was def delivery attempt, but in areas where problems with mail theft - if nobody is at residence to accept item they take it back to P.O.- My PO said your item surprisingly shows it is still at their PO. I told buyer- they said they checked week prior nothing there- insisted REFUND!!!! What? Case opened and Ebay sided with Buyer- refunded money- item clearly shows it is sad and lonely sitting at the **bleep** PO there! Now what??????

package went out on the 11th from NY to PA...ended up in Orlando, FL.
PA seems to have the worst system going, state for state (with Maryland, Tenn and parts of FLA not far behind). I wasted no time in filing a MM complaint. All a seller can do is get out in front, and hope USPS weeds out the incompetence, the corruption, and the poorest managers and performers which have other postal locations already on notice to *DIVERT* mail intended to go to PA to other states. It's absurd, frankly.

You can open a missing mail request, works half the time to get packages moving. If the buyer contacted you just let them know that USPS is running 2-3 weeks behind still, its beyond your control and you'll make inquiries to the PO. So far all my buyers have been understanding except one, gave me a negative for not receiving item but its out for delivery this morning and if ebay rep said they'd remove it when it arrives. I wouldn't refund until the last possible day, I even ask the buyers that open a case not to close thru ebay, I'll close and refund them, most have waited another week or so. Kinda got to feel out the buyer and their tone

I expect USPS would be better now as long as a shipment does not pass thru one of the still troubled distribution centers i.e. anywhere in PA, Detroit, Chicago, New Jersey to name a few. Been still using UPS Ground on everything since reopening and before I closed in mid December. UPS has delivered 100% on time.

Yeah, shipping really stinks now! I bought some stuff off Amazon on 13-Jan and it was delivered today 16-Jan. It was only 3-hours away!
Then ordered some stuff in mid-continent on 14-Jan and it was delivered to the coast today! But other stuff coming USPS from same area a day before, the 13th, isn't scheduled to arrive until the 19th!
This Amazon shipping is bad! I mean we need to get to the point where I open the pantry door and notice I am low on swiffer pads and then 30-minutes later the door bell rings and the pads are delivered! That is IF I have to wait that long! Just make them appear! Shipping is SO irritating and inconvenient!

Nope. It’s not back to normal. DeJoy is still Postmaster General.
