So I recently bought a PC component, and I didn't realise it wouldn't fit in my system. I asked for a return but was rudely declined..
Keen to not waste £160, I changed my PC to fit the item, finding out that the item is in fact damaged.
I now cannot ask for a return because of the previous one, what can I do?

Not too sure but the seller may show eBay any messages regarding your remorse return & use them to fight a SNAD if you open one.
They may even say that you altered the item...idk.
Might pay you to ask on the UK boards on eBay.co.uk
Or hang around & some others may be along with further advice.

I'm not sure why you "cannot ask for a return". I assumed you were saying that you had corresponded with the seller via eBay email. But, are you saying that you have submitted a return request previously with eBay, or are you past 60 days?
Regardless, if eBay is not allowing you to submit a return request, it is possible that you have two alternatives (these are available to US buyers, but may not be available to UK buyers):
(1) You can request a refund through PayPal if it is under 180 days.
(2) I'm not sure how the laws are set up in the UK, but in the US a buyer who paid with a Credit Card through PayPal can request a refund through their Credit Card issuer.

I can't choose return the item as ebay says I already have a case for that item, but the seller had closed it.. the product I discovered is faulty, PayPal tells me to use the ebay system
