Hello,
I bought an item from a US seller on the 19th of April and it shipped the next day. I got the tracking number
LZ204274014US. At first the package moved very quickly through USPS network, but the status has been the same since the 28th of April. It says: "In Transit to Next Facility".
I know that there can be delays due to coronavirus, but the post office in my country says that the package has not even left the US. How can this be? The second to last status uptate was
- Arrived at Regional Facility: JAMAICA NY INTERNATIONAL DISTRIBUTION CENTER
Any idea where it could be?
Thanks!

As a US seller a mailed a package to Spain on April 27, it shows the same status as yours. As a buyer I purchased an item from a US seller who is a bout a 2 hour drive from me. The USPS routed the package to a different state where it has been sitting for 10 days.
Based on this and similar situations I have experienced, I suspect that the packages in New York either sits it an unprocessed container or USPS has used sea transport. This is a recent statement from the USPS site. They are talking about 4-6 week for PRIORITY mail:
"Due to limited air cargo capacity, the U.S. Postal Service is shifting select mail from air transport to sea transport in an effort to move mail from the U.S. to international destinations.
Typical Priority Mail shipments that usually take about 7 to 10 days will now take about 4 to 6 weeks if the service is available to the destination country."
I am positive that you will receive your package of course the question is when. If you want to be a 'nice' buyer, perhaps you can contact the seller and let them know that you are willing to wait a week or two and then they can refund you. You can always pay the seller back when you receive your order. Also check the estimated day of arrival that was given by ebay. You cannot file an "Item Not Received" (INR) case before that deadline.

The tracking shows that it left the United States ... my guess is that it is in your country, clogged up with lots of other inbound packages. Spain is reporting significant problems handing international packages.

Thanks so much for your message. I already contacted the seller and agreed to wait some more time. The estimated delivery date is the 28th of May, so it's one more week from now. I hope that by then the tracking status has been updated.
Thanks again!

Hello and thanks for your message. On the USPS website, as far as I can see, the tracking status only says that the package is "in transit to the next facility", but it doesn't say that it has left the States.
Anyway, I wouldn't find it odd if the package was already in Spain, as you say, "clogged up with lots of other inbound packages". As a matter of fact, I'm waiting for another package which has been stuck in Madrid for 10 days and nobody seems to know its exact whereabouts...
The only thing I can do is wait.
Thanks again.

You can read more about this here, but it sounds like your package might be on the boat that's scheduled to arrive in the Netherlands on or about June 9. Once it arrives in the Netherlands it will take about 2-3 weeks to get to Spain, through customs, etc and delivered. If Spain is heavily backlogged then that time frame could be longer.
What was the ETA eBay provided? I'm curious because the ETA eBay gave my buyers did not include any delays - just a standard 4 weeks that the buyer would have seen pre-Covid.
Nevermind - I see you said the ETA was May 28 in your above post which means eBay probably gave you the standard approx 4 week time frame instead of accounting for delays caused by C-19.

Wow, this is extremely interesting to me. Thanks so much for your answer!
The ETA Ebay provided is 28th of May (it was sent on the 20th of April). I know it's impossible that they make it because of the backlog you mentioned in Spain. I'm waiting for another package also from the US that has been stuck in customs in Madrid for 2 weeks.
Why doesn't USPS mention that the package is been transported by boat? It would make the wait more beareable, knowing that it's going to be severely delayed because of the marine transportation.
Thanks again!!
