Lately I've been receiving tracking info, but items are not really been shipped. I've seen it taking up to a week before the item is actually been shipped, but yet EBAY sees it as shipped from day one.

As has been stated many times here, ebay says the item has shipped when the label is created. Doesn't mean it has shipped.

I they issue a USPS tracking number, it doesn't matter what the sellers ship time is, the Post Office expects the item within a day or two.
If they are not going to ship, they shouldn't generate a label.

You actually have no idea if they have been shipped or not. USPS scanning of the tracking number is NOT consistent and many, many packages never get scanned at all or only upon delivery. Most sellers do NOT hold packages for days before shipping, but they might print the label the night before, then their mail carrier will pick it up the next day. You need to learn to ignore this nonsense and be patient. If the package doesn't show up by the last estimated delivery date, then you can get upset, but until then, just relax.

I just wanted to add ...
If the seller is shipping FedEx Smartpost, don't expect a scan until the hand over to USPS 😞
I have a seller that I buy office supplies from. He ships Smartpost. On all but one order over the past 3 years, the first scan was at the USPS hand off, 3-5 days after FedEx got the package 😞
He says that the small town FedEx Drop-Off /Pick-Up driver that picks the items up refuses to scan SmartPost items....The nearest Depot is 75 miles away ... he's really deep in Podunk WV 😉

That is not accurate.
USPS policy states that a package should be "entered" on the date that is printed on the label. But when purchasing a shipping label, the seller is given the option to print a date that is up to 3 days in advance. If I purchase a label today (through any online postage provider: eBay, Paypal, USPS Click N Ship, etc.), I can choose to have Thursday's date printed on it.
eBay is full of glitches and quirks, as you know. When a seller prints a label even though they know they're not going to the PO until tomorrow or the next day, their reason might not be to mislead you; it might be just to ensure that they don't get blocked from printing the postage by the "glitch of the day" on their actual shipping date.

I agree. I don't like being mislead. I will reflect this on Feedback in the future. Don't provide tracking info until it's ACTUALLY SHIPPED.

@greg_kurtz It is EBAY who sends YOU the tracking number and tells you the item has shipped as soon as the label has been printed! Do not leave negative feedback for your sellers, it will reflect far worse on YOU and YOU will be the one dealing with sellers who refuse to sell to you!

It's not me you're agreeing with. I was trying to explain that sellers have a valid reason for printing the shipping label immediately even if they won't ship immediately.
The main thing is that eBay, not the seller, sends that notice about "Your item has been shpiped." The seller has no control over that message; his only alternative to avoid it would be to purchase his postage elsewhere.
Thanks for posting!

That's ridiculous. If I print a label and mail the package the same day, and the post office doesn't do an acceptance scan, you're going to neg me because you think I haven't mailed it yet.
Not gonna happen.

Alas! It is eBay's policy to mark the item as shipped once the seller has printed the shipping label. Unfortunately, the seller has no control over what eBay does. Bummer!

Using that logic the seller prints the shipping label on Thursday afternoon eBay says 'Hey, it's shipped'. Then he goes off on a long weekend keeping the buyer waiting until whenever.
How about this, wait til the day (or night before) you're 'actually' going to ship it. Sellers logic and mentality really showing up here.
You're welcome.

Still having trouble grasping the concept of the Post Office failing to do an acceptance scan? What a surprise.
