I need help. I shipped a package and the zip code got transposed by one number it was going to oregan and ended up in houston three weeks ago. I talked with my post master and he emailed houston. My return address is on the package. I have opened 4 service requests with no result. Right now it is being shutteled back and forth between atlanta ga and augusta ga. I tried filing a claim and the msg said not illigable. A brenda from portland post office called me last night and screamed at me said i might never see the package again and sould certanily not get my money back and didnt i care that they were short handed and that there was a pandimic. Then hung up on me. I care and i know but this is still business. It seems they plan to do nothing. What do i do from here. I have sold on and off on ebay from its start and have never encountered anything like this. I have changed my shiping to fedex and do not plan to use usps again but i need this taken care of somehow. Has anyone else out there encountered anything like this.

File a lost package claim with USPS. It likely will show up, but can take weeks to get back to you. In the meantime you need to cancel the sale and refund your buyer.

If the address is undeliverable you might not get it back.
If you pay for a service called USPS Package Intercept they're supposed to find the package and return it to you.

How did the zip code get transposed? Did you use one of eBays labels (which print whatever address the buyer provides), or did you purchase it online somewhere else (where you had to manually enter the info yourself)?
When your buyer files the inevitable INR, this will be important.
