Shipping to Germany

Has anyone shipped anything to Germany under the rules that recently went into effect on July 1st?

If yes, how did it go?

Shipping to Germany

I did send a package to Germany (12 x 18 x 1 inch) weighing around 24 ozs. on July 22. I did include the LUCID (or whatever they call it) number on the package and also included it on the customs form. Because the customs form does not have a special box for that number, I typed it in in the box for "company".

Usually, I mail packages internationally using ebay packing material which includes ebay's logo. However, when I "studied" the explanation to that German law, it was clear to me, that the best chance to avoid any problems is to wrap the package into regular kraft paper without any logos whatsoever (with a logo they somehow qualify the packaging material differently, presuming that it is a company mailing)

Anyway, the package was delivered on August 3, without any problems.

PS. Getting the LUCID number was easy. For VAT tax use ebay VAT tax number for EU. They will ask you for, I think,  two other numbers, I just typed in 'not available' (or something to that effect). The request went through and I was assigned the number. According to the explanation, one has to then contact one of the  official recycling providers to estimate the amount of packaging and pay a fee. I did not contact anybody nor paid a fee.
