Shipping "What's up with this??"

Hi There,

I am a Seller now but bought something and now knowing a lot more about the shipping process I knew $25 was too much to ship this 3 lb. item.     After a quick negotiation we ended up agreeing that a credit would be given to me for any overage of the actual shipping label price.    With good faith I went forward "knowing" a credit would be given to me.

I was told no credit.

When the package got here the weight and dimensions were correct in my $13.50 label estimate.  Why then did I pay $25 and denied a credit.  (remember only the label price was the negotiated price).

Well it turns out the label price is $40 which is shown on the box and what they are eluding to.

A.  It should have been $13.50.

B.  Why did I pay $25 for shipping with the denial of the overage because.......

C.  The Seller paid $40 for the Priority 2 day label.

What am I missing?  If this is correct they paid $15 more than the outrageous $25 which should of been $13.

We can probably help if you provide specific details, including package weight and dimensions, service used (e.g., Priority Mail?), both ZIP Codes, and both exact prices.

Option one return the item back to the seller for a full refund. Always check shipping before committing to buy. There are still sellers who make money over charging on shipping. Option two If you have the seller agreeing to a shipping credit call ebay and show them the sellers message and state that he overcharged on shipping. Tell them you didn't get the credit and see what they do.

Probably dimensional weight. But as @nobody*s_perfect said, you need to provide specs

The package was likely over 1 cubic foot which means the seller paid a dimensional rate. Instead of $13.50 retail price for a 3 lb package to zone 6, the seller paid ... what ... $39.67 online rate for a 14 lb package? Price determined based on package size instead of weight.

When you made the agreement that he would refund any shipping overage, did you specify HOW it was to be shipped?  If not, and he sent it Priority Mail for $40, that's not his fault.  You're lucky he's not asking you for $15.

I don't think you read the post thoroughly " After a quick negotiation we ended up agreeing that a credit would be given to me for any overage of the actual shipping label price"  and "Well it turns out the label price is $40 which is shown on the box "

...so there was no overcharge. Buyer paid $25 which is less than the actual cost.

Also, overcharged shipping is NOT covered by the MBG.

18 x 14 x 6

3 lb.

What I don't understand is it could have been put in a MUCH

smaller package.  So where is my fight for a Seller not having the

correct shipping box....which was about to fall apart upon arrival.

Remember she also paid extra $15 because of her bad decision on

packaging.

Therefore lesson learned.

Yes she said dimension weight.  BUT it was not necessary.

It was like putting a ring in a shoe box to send.

For the least amount possible including first class.

As for them not asking for more money Ha Ha!

Isn't that what we all want as Buyers?  And Seller

certainly could of come back to me before the

label was purchased so your comment is null and void.

Hi

Thank you.

Ok I did call eBay and the rep said.  "I will credit you $10 TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT."

I couldn't believe it.  I thought I was at a garage sale.

I took it of course but that was my option and stated in such

an unprofessional way.

The volume of that package is 1512 cubic inches. The USPS threshold for dimensional weight is 1 cubic foot, which is 1728 cu in.  So if shipped via USPS, this box would not incur the dreaded dimensional weight.
