I would suggest a lightweight 6"x4"x4" box, as that gives room for padding the car inside, and also provides the necessary 4"x6" side panel room to fit a full-size USPS mailing label.
If you seek out the shipping boxes on eBay under the EcoSwift brand, you can save an ounce of shipping weight over the standard thicker cardboard boxes.

For the normal standard issued individual Hot Wheels I use 7.5" X 5" X 3" corrugated box. I can ship two cars in this size box. I will use a larger box for more than two. I buy them by the hundreds. Price keeps going up but you may be able to find them for around 34¢ each.
For larger Hot Wheels I use 9" X 6" X 3" side mailers.
With either box the mailing weight is 8 ounces for an individual Hot Wheels and between 8 to 12 ounces for two vehicles.

If it is out of the box and of lower value I would just wrap it in a few extra layers of bubble wrap an then put it in a padded mailer.

If they're not carded or on a smaller card...

I used these for most small items that require boxes, they're super lightweight so you won't get dinged for extra shipping, and you can wrap them in a poly bag if you're somewhere where the weather warrants it (like I am).
