Shipping charge problem

I primarily sell sports cards. I also sell silver coins on the side. I recently put up $1.00 face value coin lots. I used the standard envelope with free shipping. The first two lots I sold were to a single customer, the shipping totaled 80 cents. However, the next two I sold were to two different customers and the label printed out "media mail" and I was charges $3.65 for each. I tried to change it to the standard envelope, but it wouldn't let me do anything but media mail.  Now I'm worried if the first one I sent out will even be sent...or I'll get it back three weeks from now with insufficient postage! Having to pay three dollars more for those orders took my prophet, I'm not even breaking even now. Does anyone have any idea what I can do if it happens again. I took off the free shipping and it shows buyer pays 60. cents? What the heck?
