@titipeois correct.
Do not ship to a address rather than the one on the buyers account.
Occasionally you have honest folks wanting you to ship to a business address, or have the item sent as a gift to a friend or relative.
If there is a issue with the order, you will not be covered.
Let them know that you are bound by this, if they want you to send it overseas, do not do it.
That is likely a scam.

For starters, get familiar with eBay rules, you are only suppose to ship to the address on file, if you ship to different address, you are no longer protected by eBay.
Just tell buyer that you are going to cancel due to problems with buyers address, re-list item, and he can go ahead an purchase and enter the correct ship to address upon check out. If he is truthful, he will do so, if not, he wont buy, and you saved yourself from a scam.

My son is the seller and just so happens to be the very first sale he has made. I'm sure in time he will learn all the "rules".

Step one is to verify that the ID of the person sending that request is the same as the ID of your buyer. Is it? If not, then you are getting a request from a scammer, and the real buyer may know nothing about this.

I have changed the address at times and never had a problem. Recently removed the PO Box from an address as the rest was a normal home address. The buyer had said that it was no problem shipping to home address. I imagine I may have disqualified myself from buyer protection...but I'm not sure. Buyer has been a member since 2011, and positive feedbacks.

eBay would tell you to cancel the order and have the buyer to fix the address and re-purchase. Safest route.

Just for future reference, all buyers (only) have 100% positive feedback. They haven’t been able to get a negative in over a decade.
