For what it's worth,I will not drop off any more prepaid items, Now I will wait on line watch the package I'm shipping get scanned and have the receipt in hand, only  reason, IF the post office can not scan the bar code of the package you dropped off  package Will ship out without a tracking # , you will not know if it arrived or where it might be, buyer can always say it did not show up, something to thing about ?

Nope -- I think you've stated it quite clearly.

Although you can also do the same thing without waiting in line, if your post office has a 24 hour "Self-Service" kiosk in the lobby.  They are quite easy to use, and provide the same service, without the wait, plus they are available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, including weekends and holidays.

Just tap on a few prompts, and your packages receive an "Accepted" scan, and you just need to drop your packages into the secured mail chute -- and you're done.

There are times when the kiosk is "out of order," of course, or when the drop-off chute is blocked at the other end; but normally there are no problems, especially during normal post office hours.

So definitely -- get that scan!
