Howdy, I bought a GPU from eBay recently that was described: "Open Box like new with no wear" got the card and turns out it's absolutely Used and to describe the card as "like new with no wear" is very insulting because one of the stickers on the card is discolored, along with the connector having marks, meaning it's been used in somebodies motherboard while it got sold as "like new with no wear"
So I started a return and they(seller) accepted it, I've had two confirmation emails from eBay prompting me to print out the label and send it back. However, the seller has repeatedly messaged me saying that the eBay return label has the wrong address and the seller is refusing to correct it. (they say it can't be edited and they're refusing to buy a new shipping label)
So basically, I don't trust the seller and I just want my refund. Do I ship it using the "wrong" eBay label? or do I buy my own shipping label and ship it to their "correct" address?
I can find virtually nothing about this situation via a google search. Other then a really old archived thread saying just send it with the eBay label.
Thanks in advance.

Well, return labels aren't charged until they are used, so that excuse doesn't fly. The seller could simply fix their return address in ebay and generate/send another return label.
That is a great point and spot on! Thanks for adding that. 👍
But it isn't this buyers responsibility to educate the seller on what they should have done. So seller's lack of knowledge and mistake in not updating their address with eBay looks like it will cost them. Someone paid some 'tuition" in the School of eBay Selling!😱 🤑 😎

What do I do if the Seller ships the Item back to me after the Item arrived to the address on the eBay return label?
If the tracking number shows the return package was delivered OR the tracking shows something like "delivery attempted" or "refused" or "awaiting pick up/then returned to sender" then you have met your obligation to return the item. Go talk to eBay CS and get the case closed in your favor. (Details on the FB might be the best bet?)
Thanks for the quick reply, So sit tight and continue waiting, By "details on the FB" I assume you mean facebook? I don't use that service so Is there a way to go to eBay through eBay? as I've looked so far and even after clicking "ask eBay to step in" nothing happens. I assume I have to wait for delivery to escalate the case?

Yes, the seller has a few days from when the scan shows 'delivered' to issue the refund. If they do not, then you ask eBay to step in and they will issue a refund. So you can "sit on" and watch the tracking for the package. With the clogs in the USPS this should be as exciting as watching grass grow.
eBay can be reached through FaceBook or Twitter or the 'old fashioned' way, calling them on the phone. Phone reps often say anything so often one has to steer them to do the right thing. If you have to call, do some when the West Coast has started their day in hope of getting a USA based rep.
But if you see a "refused" or rerouted on the tracking you should call eBay with that info and request the case be close in your favor ( refund issued).

UPDATE 2:
So I checked the tracking information today and oh boy, Plot twist: "PACKAGE RESEARCH CASE CREATED(series of numbers)" from what I've read online so far, Someone has reported the package missing, (I don't know if it's USPS itself or the Seller) but once the package is found it'll continue being shipped, so I hope there isn't a refund cut off point after shipping, as eBay did tell me to return it before the 21st, and it's been shipping for 10 days.

Thanks for the update!
eBay telling you to return it by the 21st was probably the 5-day window (now looks like it is 10-business days) you had to get the package scanned and into the mail system. Check the email eBay sent you.
IF you got the package scanned by the deadline you should be good. If it takes a week or three to get there, no issue, as there is no "expected delivery date" on returns. When (if) the package is delivered to the address on the return label, the seller will have 2 -days to issue a refund. If that doesn't happen on the 3rd day you ask eBay to step in and they will issue you a refund.
Yes, that research case should be to goose things along on the return. Anyone know what is the exact verbiage if the seller filed a package intercept (redirect?). I suspect it is something different.

UPDATE 3: (this was yesterday)
I've been checking the shipping status every other day now, and on the 21st the item was delivered to the ebay return label destination, it was rejected and is being prepared to be shipped somewhere else now.
(Don't know where and don't know how to check on usps, hopefully the seller redirected it to where they wanted it to go so I don't have to deal with it anymore!)
I called eBay now that I had met my obligations to ship it back to the seller's address, and the guy on the phone was super nice and very helpful, sounded upset when they read the message history between me and the seller, and assured me I did the right thing, and that I would get a full refund before the usual 3 - 5 business days.
After I hung up a pending case was created and 10 minutes later it was "dropped" in my favor. Got an email an hour later saying "You've been given a full refund."
Unfortunately due to bad audio call quality and how the rep talked very softly and quietly, I had trouble hearing the reps name but seriously eBay give that person a raise! Super professional and kind.

There you go! Good for you! Glad it worked out!
Also glad you came here and asked for help and followed it. So many buyers don't ask and mess up their protections under the MBG! Kudos!

LOL that's not how eBay returns work. Once a return label is issued it cannot be changed especially if a case is open because the seller is no longer in control.
Try it yourself and you'll find out that the website will not allow other labels to be printed. The only option the seler has is to issue a return label outside of eBay as per eBay customer support.
Next time don't make assumption and school the public with the wrong info.

I'm glad that it worked out for you. I do have to say though that ebay boards reps have said in the past that if the seller is paying for the shipping, they can ask to have an item sent back to a different address. However, the seller would have have had to purchase a label from another site with the correct address and then either send it to you through the message system or email it to you.
As the return label had already been issued, it really wasn't possible for them to then produce a label through ebay with a different address but as mentioned above, they could have handled this in a different way so that you could get your refund and they could get their item back.
EDIT: Darn, Just realized that the original post is from 2020.
ZOMBIE THREAD.
