Recieved a message from my seller asking for
First name :
Surname :
Address :
city :
country :
Postal Code :
I was a bit surprised since this is the first time it's happened, I thought that information is right there in the complete bid besides my surname?
I've ordered at least a dozen times from eBay and never seen a seller do this, though it is a global shipment as the seller lives in another country.. I'm suspicious, what do you all think?

All sellers, global or otherwise, see the shipping address when the buyer pays.

He may just be trying to confirm you information. If it is correct, just tell him to use what it shows in the Order Details.

There have been may cases where buyers failed to update their address in ebay's records. Packages get shipped to old addresses and can't always be recovered. They just might want to confirm the address. Many shippers also want a phone number in case an issue comes up with delivery.

The question that should be asked, did this message come thru the eBay message system? Any changes in address after buying would void eBay MB and protection. Changes need to be done before not after paying.

They have all the pertinent information to ship to you.
If it were me, I would kindly reiterate that the information needed is available to them when they print the shipping label.
Then hold tight.
Best moving forward,
Grandma

I have had a couple of occasions to ask a buyer that.
U S postal regulations require a FULL first and last name for international mail. Initials are not acceptable.
"J. Smith", for example (or) "Mr. S" (yes I had one of those) as another example.
My post office will not accept anything addressed accordingly. Some PO's might but if they do it is against regulations.
Another cause has been that sometimes the address just doesn't look right. In the US we are so accustomed to a street number and name that someone with less international experience doesn't realise other countries use other formats.
Early on I got an order to the UK. The address was "xx Cottage" "xx Village". No street name or number. I questioned it and was told that this was a small village and that was the complete and accurate address. Learning process.
Just a thought.

thanks so much for the responses everyone, but now the seller is asking for my "email and tax code", by which I think he means my national insurance number, so he can fill out customs forms...
what are your thoughts on this? I have no idea on the customs and shipping forms for items from Rome to the UK but I feel like they shouldn't need this information?

this message came through the ebay message system, and the seller had already accepted the payment.
After confirming my address the seller has labled the item as posted, even though they are now asking for my "email and tax code" to fill out customs forms (in their words).

I'm in the US, but found your question interesting. I just went and started to fill out a shipping label online through UPS Italy (and did so as if I was shipping from Rome to London) and it *did* ask for the buyer's tax code. It did *not* ask for the buyer's email address (though I'm assuming that could vary depending on the service you are using. I can't remember ever being asked to provide a recipient's email address when I've shipped through major carriers, but a courier service did ask). So asking for a tax code does seem legit. If you feel uncomfortable at all giving your real email address, you can always make a new disposable one for this delivery, check it until the package arrives, and then delete the account when you're done.

Thanks for the speedy reply. What exactly is a tax code, since all I can assume is it's my national insurance number... would I have to give it out for UPS to ship the package? Not sure I want a seller having it...

A tax code is for people who live/work in Italy. Since you're a UK resident you wouldn't have an Italian tax code. Your package is going to the UK so the seller should be able to ship without one.
You might also pose your question on the .co.uk discussion boards. This is the .com forum.

I've recently had this happen to me as well. The conversation went from FB to Gmail. She said she wanted to "open a case " It was a vehicle supposedly at an ebay building in little rock. It was a 2004 dodge rumble bee w/23,000 on it for only 1200.00 so I think it's a scam

That is 100% a scam @matthesetze0. Cease all communications and report them to both FB and Google.
Any vehicle being sold on eBay will be listed on eBay. There is no warehouse where eBay stores vehicles. They probably would have asked you to pay with gift cards making the money unrecoverable and they probably gave you a sob story about why they needed to get rid of the vehicle so quickly for such a low price.
I'm sure you'll find a zillion listings of that same vehicle with the same photos across different internet sites.

Thank you for your help. I looked around and started seeing a pattern from different "sellers" for this same type of to good to be true deals amd how they want to talk on Google. So buyer beware as they say. TY and God bless you -Matt.
