Ridiculous GSP strikes again

I would like to know why the item I bought for USD $15 is beging shipping through the prohibitively expensive and ridiculous GSP system (to Canada) and the eBay customer service chat session would not allow me to actually send my query through to them?! I specifically bought this particular item because the seller did not list GSP in their shipping details.  It's rather disingenuous to spring the GSP on buyers. I specifically go out of my way to try to order only from sellers who do not use GSP as it is oftentimes much more expensive than if I simply rely on our Canada Customs system alone. It's also just dandy how one cannot get through to eBay through email and I don't have time to faff about waiting on the phone. Little wonder I have been buying through other platforms despite having been an eBay seller and buyer since 1995.

Are you sure it was GSP? How long ago was the purchase made because GSP shouldn't be available at this stage now that eBay is rolling out EIS (eBay International Shipping, the GSP replacement).

If you want to post the item number we can take a look to see what shipping was advertised.

As for why a particular service is used, sellers choose which shipping options to offer and buyers can see that before checkout then decide whether or not to make the purchase.

With the old GSP and the new EIS, it is not possible for the seller to change the shipping service after the buyer commits to a purchase. In other words, a seller can't ship GSP or EIS if that option was not selected/defaulted when you paid for the item.

As wastingtime mentioned, the seller can't change to GSP after the listing has been posted.  Is it possible that the seller is sending your item eBay International Standard Delivery?  In some cases those items are sent directly to Canada via USPS/Canada Post.
