Returning a defective buggy phone

So I opened up a return for defective item and asked if I could please return the device and the seller accepted with a petty message kinda trying to imply I wanna con them or something first they state make sure to send phone with matching imei okay of course im not a scammer and next they say wipe the phone if not if theres any data left or accounts on the phone we will only refund half of the money I was like **bleep** is that even allowed they can just say I did that and screw me to be petty so my question is how is that possible or are they bluffing cause I sold here before and I had people do a return and I dont remember it allowing me to return whatever amount I wanted to thats so sleazy and no where in there returns policy did they say anything about getting half back if phone wasnt wipe I did wipe and erase every google account phone was left like when its shipped brand new so I covered my end just afraid they might do something sketch they are a top seller tho big points and rep

If it's defective you should open a not as described case in the resolution center. This is not something you would have to ask permission for from the seller and the seller would have to accept a return and issue a full refund-- It sounds like you just asked for a refund, like you changed your mind, as in a remorse return?
