Return question

Buyer asked to return an item on January 6th (he changed his mind) , and we immediately accepted, the buyer was given  January 22nd deadline to ship the item back (ridicules and absurd time frame that allows the buyer to continue RENTING for free the item for 16 more days past the return request date , thank you Ebay) it is now January 25th, the item was not mailed but the case is still open and our funds are still on hold  20 days after we approved the return, any suggestions?

Unfortunately @flyingmvp eBay policy says:

Changes to handling return requests that appear abandoned
Starting [April Fools’ Day] April 1, 2020, we will no longer close returns early at the request of a seller when the buyer has not shipped the item back. Instead, we will wait to ensure buyers have sufficient time to provide proof items they requested to return were shipped back.

If you you call -- see the other post about this today -- eBay will put your case on hold for another 5 days, prolonging your agony.

Return question

This is the correct answer.  eBay will let this bad Buyer hold your product and hold your funds for 35 business days and then the case will auto close which could take another 5-8 days or you call in and they will finally close the case releasing the hold on your funds which will have to filter thorough another Payout cycle.  This system is unethical at best.

Today I came into work with a return request for one $599.00 video card that shipped to Germany.  The Buyer purchased 3 of these for a total sale of $1,855.12.  Buyer wanted a replacement which I shipped him via DHL.  Here comes the crime.  eBay put a hold on the entire $1,855.12.  I called customer service first thing.  Explained the wrong and was told don't worry after Buyer receives the replacement.  The hold will release and all is good.  This process will take a min of 2 weeks.  So eBay will be holding over $1,200.00 for no reason.  Right now I have 4 $600 video cards either in Germany or on the way and I don't have the $1,200+ that eBay feels they need even though not warranted.  I was told that once funds are put on hold there is no way to change that other than  the Buyer closes the case or all is refunded.  So in this case when I see that the replacement is delivered I will have to call CS again and get the funds released.  Basically when eBay makes a mistake there is no repair no matter how much it cost the Seller.  This is a poorly designed and executed program.  The entire goal is to extract as much money from the Seller as possible.  I would love to hold $1200 of any one of the three CS people I spoke with today and see if that would be okay with that.  I do a $2.4 mil online business and now do only $400K of eBay and working very hard to get off the platform that I have been on for 21 years.  Sad

Sorry not what you want to hear but nothing you can do except be more patient. Just like late deliveries were pushed out for sellers, eBay has extended the window for returns for buyers. It is what it is I'm afraid. Try to remain positive that all will work out for you and concentrate on selling other items. Best of luck to you....
