Refund on a ebay gift card

So I've been on ebay for over 10 yrs, not too many issues. But one arose today, so for Xmas my son gave me a $25 ebay gift card I used it a couple days ago to purchase some Steelers pj's. I applied the gift card and had to pay a balance of $12 and change from my debit thru PayPal. Everything went fine, but then today the seller messeged me that he made a "mistake" and didn't have the ones I already paid for and was gonna refund me. So thru PayPal he refunded $12. What I'm curious is what happens with the $25 gift card now? How do I get reimbursed that? Has anyone had this happen? And how did u get ur ebay "money" back? And yes I did contact eBay about it, she said it's been forwarded to someone to look into it. Thanks in advance. 👍

Refunds go back to the source. It takes about 2 weeks to go back to the gift card.

Your seller should have refunded the full payment amount.

When I have received a refund for a gift card funded payment,

the money asppeared almost immediately back on the card.

But there have been reports of delays.

If the seller still uses PayPal to receive payments ....

Have you checked the details of the refund transaction in your Paypal account.

It should show the $25 going back to something like gift card services & $12 back to your other funding source.

If your seller did not have sufficient funds in their Paypal available balance, you would have to wait for the refund echeck to clear.

Wait a day & then check the balance on the gift card.

Thanks for replying, I had to dig the gift card out of the trash lol. But I checked the balance and the card has the $25 on it now. Still waiting for the $12 to come back to my debit thru PayPal. But thanks again 👍

If the refund made it back to the card,

you should see the available balance on the checkout page when you make a purchase.

This balance will appear in the same area of the chckout page that you would input a new card.
