Since there are new chats on pets, I don’t see any reason why I can’t ask where or what to buy to send out my records after I sell them here on eBay. Inserts necessary?
My 1st ever record posted for sale did get 1 bid at an auction which ends tonight.

Great question! I see you're about to need to 'get the Kinks out'... Good job!

Of course you can ask those questions, whether "there are new chats on pets" or not. Where did you get the idea you couldn't ask about shipping materials? I don't get the correlation.

I buy my mailers right here on eBay.
When purchased in lots of 100 they can be as cheap as 42 cents each with free shipping.

Bought a quantity supply of LP mailers years ago from Uline, but just do a search for suppliers of vinyl record mailers to find the best options for your use/your country/your area.
I don't buy inserts...I make my own and I also use bubble wrap.

Do I buy 12 or 12 1/2 size?

luckythewinner gave you the correct answer.
I haven't bought any recently, but always found the best prices right here on eBay.
However, if you have one selling today, you don't time to wait to receive a shipment. Best thing would be to try a record store in your area, to buy one. Possibly an office supply store, although I haven't seen them there.

Well, technically, I'd say there's a strong possibility that this entire thread will get shoveled off to the Shipping and Returns group, but whatever. 😊
There are cardboard LP mailers available from various sellers here on eBay. Back when the spouse and I had a whole bunch of jazz records to sell, we bought 50 cardboard mailers here and they worked out very well: just drop the album in the center, fold over all four flaps and you're done. Two of the flaps end up with their corrugations at right-angles to the rest of the package, so you get very good rigidity and resistance to bending. We also ran a bead of white Elmer's Glue under the last flap before taping all seams.
One other detail: we used a 12" square of small-cell bubble wrap for padding inside. Rotate the square of bubble wrap 45° so that its corners are at 12:00, 3:00, 6:00 and 9:00. Lay the album right-side-up in the middle, then fold the projecting corners of the bubble wrap up and over each side of the album towards the middle. Place that into the mailer and seal it up. This way, the bubble wrap cushions each edge to keep the album floating, centered within the mailer, and the corners are kept free, not mashed into padding.
We had a number of albums go all the way to Japan (turns out that there's a huge jazz market over there) and all shipments arrived in good shape.

Wait... no, the flap corrugations don't end up at right angles to the rest of the package. I don't know how I came up with that. Still, with a bead of glue securing the last flap, it all ended up very rigid and good for mailing.

Neither the OP's post nor mine made any reference to the thread being moved or not being moved, but whatever. 😐

At the time I responded, it was in the Selling group, but given the subject (and you did point out that it was a question about shipping materials), I said it was likely that we would all end up in the Shipping and Returns section, and in fact we did. 😊

I really like the eBay branded LP mailers. I tried them out with my shipping supplies coupon - I’m kind of hooked on them. Inserts/spacers are kind of a must. For many records - esp if the jacket is of high value - I also use the corrugated corner guards. Those are typically for sending framed items, but they work very well for LPs. I couldn’t find those on eBay, though.

Hey @powell-memorabilia where do you find the corrugated corner guards?

I watched his video. Thank you for suggesting it for me such a novice!
Whenever I watch how to videos I’m reminded one thing I really don’t have is manual dexterity.
Got carried away when New York City first was put into Lockdown with wanting suddenly out of the blue to make & change all my clothes tie dye. I watched countless videos how to make tie dye t shirts, denim jackets, sweatsuits, etc.
Now I’m envisioning a new selling life as an eBay lp vintage vinyl seller.
Hope it happens...Only been selling here since 1998.
Didn’t ever make anything tie dyed. My sister convinced me I don’t have the space & room nor do I have my own washing machine living in an apartment building that the other tenants here would not like my using the public co-op building’s equipment to tie dye...& colorize clothes.
