Question on exchanging an item

recently purchased an item on eBay for around $300. The item was not as described, and the seller has agreed to exchange my item for a similar item. I am completely OK with that, as I have purchased from the seller before and they are trustworthy with thousands of positive feedback. When I went to start the exchange, I was only given the option to return the item. I went forward with the return process and the seller issued me a return label. We both are on the same page that I'm sending the item back for exchange. I do not want a refund. However, I am concerned that the seller will be not be able to give me an exchange and eBay will require them to issue me a refund. Any thoughts? Thanks.

Question on exchanging an item

Once it shows returned, the seller will have 6 business days to issue a refund before you can even take action (ask eBay to step in), but you don't have to do it at the 6 day mark.  You can wait a bit more.

If the seller doesn't supply you with tracking info for a new shipment, then ask them for it.  You can wait until you get the new shipment and then go in and close the case yourself if all is well with the new item.

The only potential downside to this is the timeline and seller's location.  If this item is coming from an international destination, the case could time out before you received the new item.  Some immoral sellers will use this to their advantage and not really re-ship an item.

For an international shipment, I would ony take the refund and then re-purchase if I wanted to.
