Proof for item "picked up"

I have been selling a few items that require pickup, (no shipping). What is acceptable ebay proof that the buyer received his item?

I never feel safe with a PayPal payment. Cash makes me feel safe.

There is none.

That's why a "local pickup" transaction should only be paid for with cash.

If they buyer uses PayPal they can prove payment.

But you can't prove delivery.

Hence if they file an INR you will HAVE to do a refund (you lose the money) AND the buyer gets to keep the item (you lose that too).

(a) It is best to treat this like a local classified ad sale ... accept payment in cash (double check that the cash is legitimate.  You could do PayPal but it might create headaches should there be a dispute.

(b) Most important is to have two copies ready of a simple Bill of Sale to be signed by both parties - I make sure that it has an "as is, buyer was able to inspect" type clause in it ... buyer gets one copy, the seller the other.

I would consider this as essentially useless, at least with eBay.

If you want to go to small claims court it could work.

Do you have that much time to jump through all those hoops.

Yes, this is for small claims court (seller protection) and in case stolen merchandise is involved (buyer protection).  Many "local pick-up" items are not only high weight items, but also higher dollar items (over at least $100).

There isn't any eBay accepted proof. That's why you only accept cash on pickup.

Worthless if the buyer paid by PayPal.

Wrong. I'm surprised how many posters don't keep up with the PayPal UA. PayPal stopped covering local pickups in 2015. Buyers who pick up items in person have NO eBay or PayPal buyer protection.

Right. Looking at the OP's recent Local Pickup sale of a Howard Miller grandfather clock, for example, it was correctly listed as Local Pickup Only, with no Shipping methods of any kind. That gets a special key phrase put in the Shipping and Handling tab of the listing: "Shipping to: Will arrange for local pickup only (no shipping)."

On that basis, the buyer can pay via PayPal, but cannot file an Item Not Received dispute because there was never any Shipping offered in the first place.

This is the first and will be the last time that I used Ebay. Why can't the buyer say that they have received the goods. Did I just loose $300? I see the money hanging around in PayPal, but l can't get it. I mean **bleep**. The buyer is a fair guy, he paid $300 to PayPal. I have $300 pending in PayPal. Is PayPal just going to keep the money. Come on man. This is glitch. Fix it.

You a new seller who is under the paypal 21 day hold the funds will be released at that time.
This is another reason that is best to take cash on pick up.
