Postal Geometry FYI...

If you have a long item and don't want to incur the new USPS charges....

A square box that is 22 x 22 has a diagonal (hypotenuse) measurement of 31 inches. While these numbers are rounded and approximate, the point is, you may be able to ship something that is 27 inches long, lets say, in a square box that doesn't warrant the extra shipping fees. I know, I know, it depends on height, etc., but 22 x 22 x 3 is less than a cubic foot, and has a length and girth of 72.

All I'm saying is, a little math and ingenuity might help you out in certain cases.

Hey, I'm a huge fan of diagonal shipping.  I think that could be a big money saver for people who have to use USPS.

It's going to make more than a little math to work around the USPS new charges 🙂

But really, creativity and shopping around for a new carrier is the only way to go.

Had my 33" ship item earlier today that I was going to checkout the diagonal to get under the "over 30 inch" surcharge.

Lucked out. That was just the length of the box I had packed it in. A little trim to 29", and it's good to go🙂 (can't get to 22, but $4 beats $15)
