I think buttons could easily be damaged in a standard envelope, dents & dings could equal returns, I highly recommend a bubble mailer at least.

From my reading that would not be an acceptable use of the eBay Standard Envelope:
"Envelope thickness is uniform, less than 0.25” inches at all points, and not too rigid"
Among other concerns.
I also think you should use at least a bubble mailer and a Ground Advantage label probably. At only a few ounces, I'd guess, it won't be too expensive, but you will want to take it into account.

Nope -- political buttons are not among the permitted categories allowed for the eBay Standard Envelope, as follows --
And, as others have mentioned, using the ESE (or any other non-protected #6 or #10 envelope) is not advised, as the buttons can easily be smashed, bended, flattened, and otherwise destroyed.
USPS Ground Advantage in a padded or thick photo envelope is a better idea.
