Hello community,

I am new to high end items as a seller.

I just sold an item of $1700+ to someone that I think is using a freight forwarding company address. How safe is to ship to Them?  Anyone had bad experiences?
I am planning to send with UpS and signature confirmation, any other tip?
how do I check what’s the billing address? I can’t see where it shows.  Additionally eBay says “I have been PoF” but I have not seen the money in my bank account yet.

I just want to make sure I am not getting scammed!

thank you all

It is MyUS, an International freight forwarder. For sure get SIGNATURE DELIVERY

 and insure.

OK, I get your concern and it stinks to be worked up over something like this.

The reality is that with a USA address on the order you have to ship the item or get a ding on the selling metrics.  That said I think many are unreasonably scared of Freight Forwarders (FF).  Sure there are horror stories for anything, but a buyer using a FF takes some of the risk and thus it is a bit of an advantage to sellers.  As I suspect you know, once the package shows delivered to the address in the order, you have met you obligation.  If the item is repackaged and reshipped then the seller is of the hook.  If the buyer claims SNAD, then you only have to pay for return shipping from the FF and not from where ever in the world the package goes.  That is often enough to deter someone from filing a SNAD case, as it is too costly to return the item to the FF.

A few things I can think of ...

1)  Over package this such that you are 100% certain that the item can survive if the package falls off of a conveyor belt onto a concrete floor.

2)  While eBay won't use it, I would document the packaging process should it be needed down the road with others.

3) It this expensive item is something that has a serial number, get a clear picture or video of that serial number.  Again for use down the road in other venues, if needed.

4) If you are slick, you could perhaps in a non-accusatory way email the buyer and find out where the item is ultimately being shipped.  er, that is if their eBay ID doesn't show a foreign location.

5) As others have noted make sure you buy insurance, but for the total cost - item sale price, PLUS shipping costs.

Hope this helps!

The address is indeed a freight forwarder. In this instance it is for a company called MyUS which is one of the of the largest and oldest shipping forwarders in the United States. They have a great reputation for customer service and reliability. They are a membership or fee based company so the buyer is paying an annual fee to utilize their services. They have pretty good company reviews, average of 3.5 out of 5 and appear to be very responsive, check reviews, when there are issues or problems. I would not be as concerned with the freight forwarder as I would be with the buyer and the potential for a scam on a high dollar item. As others have suggested fully insure the package and since it is over the $750 threshold by eBay policy you are required to obtain signature delivery something you may want to upgrade to adult signature required.

If you are concerned, pick one of your options. Potentially lose $1700 or take an eBay ding. Those are your two choices as I see them. In my opinion, the answer is a simple one. And I always go with my gut feeling.

the answer is a simple one indeed..................ship it

I would be out of buisness without them..............they are the best buyers in the world.

I ship all the time to forwarders and even give them free shipping in California.
