My package has been in transit for 3 weeks now and the buyer now want me to cancel the purchase

So my item was sold all the way back on August 24 and I shipped it out to the buyer the next day. The tracking number said that it supposed to arrived on August 29 but it never happened. Now the buyer becomes impatient and wanted to cancel the purchase. This is my first time in this situation so I need help with what I should do.Screenshot (13).png

Start a “where is my package” trace on the USPS website. Once that is done they will foreward that trace to the Post Office where that package is suppose to be. After that they will contact you via email or phone. I would request phone becuase you will be able to talk to either the postmaster or one of the workers there. Contact the buyer and be very nice to them and tell them you are doing a trace with USPS to locate their package and that you will gladly refund them once you find out what has happened to it and if they can get it delivered quickly after this. Ask them to please be patient and you wil do everything you can to get the item to them. This has happened to me a least three times with USPS. I RESOLVED  ALL OF THEM with the package being found and delivered. Contact Ebay and have them put an extension on the Item not received claim . THEY CAN DEFINATELY DO THAT FOR YOU.

I've got two arriving by 3 days now, but 15 days. wow   He is just going to have to wait. I had one 10 days over due and eBay still told me to wait another 8 days.

Put a trace on the package with the USPS. You can do this online. Generally, this will get the package moving again.

Buyer can not cancel as the package has shipped.

They can ask to return but not until they have received the package. Do not refund until you have package back.

Thank you, I will do that. The thing is that the buyer opened a case with eBay saying they have not received their package yet, so I only have 3 days to fix this problem before they escalate the situation to ebay which I'm pretty sure ebay gonna be in the buyer favor

Unless tracking shows the item has been delivered, they will get a refund.

If tracking shows recent movement, you might be able to have the case extended a little bit.

You can try to have the package intercepted if you have to refund.

Have a great day.

You can call the 800 number on the usps web site. They can pull up a lot more info that what is posted on line.   However, it looks a bit bleak when it goes this long. I had two get lost over that last two months.

Welcome to USPS shipping.  I had a PRIORITY MAIL 1-3 day package take 35 DAYS to deliver a few months ago.  Same situation for me, buyer wanted to cancel because it was taking too long and they had to wait.  I logged a missing package claim on the USPS site, then they all the sudden found it when I was requesting an insurance claim and the package began moving again.  I think it was at an Illinois shipping center for about 21 DAYS of the trip.  Long story short, USPS refused to refund my $8.xx shipping charge I paid for "fast" 1-3 Day Priority Mail saying the item was ultimately delivered.  It was like paying someone to paint your house and them taking 2 years to do it and then still claiming they get to keep all the money for the service they "completed".  🙂

This happened to me 3 times. Took Priority packages 4-6 weeks to get to the buyer. They understood that the USPS is having issues and may be later than it should be. Really, you don't have to do anything. You did your job by shipping their package and Tracking proves that. The buyer can call USPS and talk to them about it and also go on their website and file a claim. I filed claims on my 3 packages and in about a week I received the full refund on them. Plus the buyers eventually received their packages. I suggest just going on their website and filing a claim. It wasn't very difficult to do.
