Item not recieved - advice needed!

Hi all I sold an item for £420.  Sent via UPS to the Paypal address.

Customer claims they never recieved the item.

Tracking shows that UPS delivered it to the correct address.  After contacting UPS further, they provided a map showing a GPS location where the item was scanned (very close to the house, in fact looks like an outhouse) - this is a very rural area with only 4 houses on the entire road.

UPS state the item was left safe at this location.   Customer opens ebay dispute - ebay close in my favor as tracking information all checks out.

Customer opens Paypal dispute, same thing happens (in my favour)

Customer still wants me to solve the issue and is threatening to get a solicitor involved. Does anyone have any advice?

It's possible that the item was received but the buyer saw an opportunity and decided to open a case as the item was not signed for - but I don't believe this is a prerequisite now for tracking.

Or they could be telling the truth.  Either way, I did everything I should have so I don't want to foot the bill - anyone could claim this!

One piece of information is that the house has a NAME rather than a number... and the customer confirmed that the house name is not displayed ANYWHERE outside the house which seems a bit irresponsible on the side of the homeowner - could easily cause confusion for a delivery driver not familiar with the house names!?

Does anyone have any advice on what to do now (if anything?) Thanks!

Some estates/homes will just go by their names.  Not common but not unheard of.   Carriers would be familiar with it - and GPS shows it was delivered to the property.

And that's the 'address' the buyer provided to you.

Might have a gate house that packages get delivered too.  It could've been accepted by house staff (maid/butler/nanny), and they put it on the hall table and it's been overlooked.

I'd just tell them that UPS uses GPS and it pinpoints, without question, delivery to their location (I'd hold back on saying outhouse or even gatehouse  lol), and that their best option would be to follow up with UPS or perhaps other member of the household.

Then I'd say nothing more.  Threaten you?  For what? Their potential oversight? Their potential thief?

You've done your part.  They can't do anything else.

Send this link to the buyer and ask them to read the, "when the buyer doesn't receive the item" part.  Then tell them good luck with hiring someone, and have a nice day.  Then report them to ebay for making threats.  Then stop communication.
