I purchased an item in December 2019 and it was for my swimming pool and so I just installed it early June maybe late May of this year. The item was defective and now I don't know if I have any options for a return? Thoughts??

As far as I know, all your generous options for a return/refund have expired.

Why would you do that? Contact the manufacturer. That's pretty much your only recourse.
I doubt that you'll get much help going that route though.

If you paid with a CC through PP you MAY have a 12 month coverage through your CC.
